BRIDESMAID DRESSES-NEED OPINIONS!

Hi ladies-

I am getting married on December 1st, 2012. I want to incorporate the Christmas season into my wedding, however I feel everyone is expecting me to get red or green dresses for my girls. I was thinking a champagne/gold color with red flowers. Do you think that would be too 'gawdy'? My cousin already commented that champagne would look 'dirty' against my white dress. What do you think? I think it's a pretty combo, but don't want it to look cheap!

Would you be able to find a picture that is close to the color of the dresses you're considering? My only concern regarding champagne is that it would be too close to the color of your dress..

ITA! Not gawdy at all! I think it would be really pretty, but I would also worry about it detracting from your gown. Maybe a deeper color like a pretty, warm golden hue?

I like the dress, but I do this it's a bit too light for a BM dress, especially if you're doing ivory and not white.

I think that this color combination would look great and different then what people would expect from a Christmas wedding. Unless your dress is champagne colored I don't think that it would take away from your dress at all.

My dress will either be white or diamond white...my off the boat Italian mother would not have it any other way :)

i love the idea - i agree that it wont detract from your white gown maybe something like these would work...

The description on the page, I love the holiday season and wanted to tie that theme in to our wedding, without it overtaking the wedding. We opted for simple gold dupioni silk bridesmaids dresses, but then went for a punch of color with the flowers. The bridesmaids bouquets were made up of black magic calla lilies (which are a deep shade of red), red roses, and a mixture of red and green hypericum berries to tie in Christmas. Charlie's bouquet was a mixture of sierra roses, white roses, white calla lilies, stephanotis, green hypericum berries, and golden stalks of wheat, in memory of her grandfather, 'Poppy', who was a small town Kansas doctor and farmer for over 50 years. your cousin is ridiculous! I think it would be stunning... especially a more pinkish champagne color with dark dark red flowers - SEXY!

LOVE THE GOLD!!! ohh and those are the dark red I was talking about... David Tutera had an episode of this 'day of the dead' wedding and the flowers he used in that episode are what I first thought of when you mentioned your theme.

I would also look into red dresses for the bridesmaids holding white flowers and you holding red flowers

Thanks for the pics...that is exactly what I envisioned, but when my cousin mentioned the whole 'looking dirty' thing it threw me off! What do you think of the men with the gold vests? Good with a black suit, or no?
