I have been looking through magazines and can not seem to find a bridesmaid ress I like. I am starting to really like strapless (august wedding...hot...strapless may be nice for them). The problem is that I don't think all of my bridesmaid would go for that. So what are all of you summer brides doing? Straps, no straps, or a mix of both? If you would like to post pictures you can...

I'm planning on picking the designer, the fabric (probably satin), and the color and letting the girls all choose what they want. I had to do this for a wedding once, and it worked out well. Everyone wore what they felt more comfortable in and it made the pictures more interesting in my opinion. So my vote was for mix.

THe dress is strapless - but the girls can also get a wrap if they would be more comfortable.

are you ok with different dresses? if so, just do the 'single color' 'different dress' thing..
i am too OCD for that, so I want them all the same.
Why don't you ask the girls?

I am going to start discussing this with them soon...I am just trying to get an idea of what I like and do not like. My big thing is that there are different shade of periwinkle, depending on the fabric, so I have no problem having straps added on to the dress for some. I really would perfer them to all be the same though.

i agree with psf80..... i intend to pick out the designer and the color and let the girls pick whatever dress they like and feel comfortable in.

When we picked out my BM dresses, I knew the majority of my BM would not be comfortable in strapless...So I had my MOH order strapless to match my wedding gown...The BM are wearing a tank style top...All dresses are by Bill Levkoff (separates) & I have them in the Euro Wine...
I think you need to ask your girls which they prefer

Well I found a dress that I really liked and it was 2 piece with a sleeveless top....one of my bridesmaids was so happy that she would get to wear a regular bra. I also have a few with big boobs and I thought this would be flattering on them.
Think about the proportions of your BMs

For two weddings where I am a bridesmaid, we did strapless dresses with detachable straps. This way, we will wear the straps after the pictures and ceremony so everyone can be comfortable but the bride is happy because the strapless dresses look nice in the pictures. it worked out really well. If the designer doesn't give them to you with the dress (most Jordan dresses automatically come with detached straps), the bridal salon can order them for you for a small price.

I like strapless. DOn't forget if a girl is uncomfortabe the seamstress can always ADD straps.. That's what we did for my sister's wedding. All of the BM's were skinner than me, but older and didn't want to wear straps, so I wore strapless and they seamstress added straps for them

I like straps. You don't want your video to be filled with girls pulling up their dress, they don't even realize they're doing it. I think their dresses are supposed to resemble yours so since mine is a halter that's kinda what I'm looking for in BM dresses. Hope this helps!

i too agree that they should be comfortable. if they don't feel comfy wearing the dress, they'll keep fidgeting, pulling the dress up, and look uncomfortable. i like the idea of having the same colors with different styles.
it adds a nice touch. different, but not too out there.
I love strapless dresses, but that is just me. I would give people the option of what they feel comfortable in.

I'm doing all strapless...but I lucked out in that all my bridesmaids don't mind it. If you want strapless because it will be hot (but not everyone would be comfortable), then I'd say go with a halter style dress. For only a little more material, you can get a lot more support and can wear a bra with a clear strap. And you could also mix and match between halter and strapless, and that would look nice (alternate the girls in the pictures for a cute pattern )

Well since I am one of the BM, I do think strapless would look very nice, but what does everyone else think. When we start looking then I guess we can decide what feels and looks the best. You know I don't care what I wear.
At my wedding you won't be in strapless because I know you and my sister won't be comfortable

Bigger & bigger breasted woman may not feel comfortable with no straps. I know I wouldn't. I would be too self conscious and picking up my dress the whole night.
Also - strapless reminds me of the pic that went around the internet with the girl who went to catch the bouqet.........
