All you girls with summer weddings...are your BM wearing chiffon or satin? I heard that satin is too heavy of a material for the summer. What is your opinion? Any feedback would greatly be appreciated!!

i think it depends on the style of the dress... my sister had satin, but they were strapless and tea length... (seriously, i think it was the hottest day of 2005, lol) and it wasnt really as bad as it could have been were it a different style
ETA: Mine are cotton sateen

My dress is satin (Maggie Sottero) and my BM's are wearing chiffon. It's lighter and many of them did not want to end up sweating in July. We got them from David's Bridal

My bridesmaid's dresses are satin...I liked the Chiffon too, but the dress I really liked for my girls was in satin.

i know the satin photographs very well as we were having a simular problem so I think what the bride is doing is going with satin-cotton material

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses..Satin or Chiffon??
we're doing a light taffeta. Satin (especially the kind they use in bridesmaid dresses which is usually a cheaper grade) can get heavy and hot. I happen to not be a fan of chiffon because I don't like that flowy look, and it can easily look matronly if the wrong style and color, which is why I went with tea-length taffeta.

Im a winter bride but my BMs still wound up with chiffon b/c the dress was the most flattering and I love the flowyness.

I really just love the feel of Chiffon dresses and the flowiness to them. Especially for that time of year, I feel it would be a nice light material for the girls to wear.

My girls will be wearing chiffon. I feel like those heavy satin dresses just scream BRIDESMAID and they'd never be worn again. At least they'll spend money on something they can use again with the chiffon dresses.
