One of my bridesmaids is my FH's sister. She has no $ saved so we paid for her dress(no big deal) but I know if I want her to get her hair & make up done we'll have to pay for that too. Should I give her a gift certificate for her gift since we're paying anyway and maybe a small keepsake? My other bridesmaid is a single mom, absolutely broke & she can't afford to get hair or make up done either(she was complaining about the $140 dress) so I thought I should give her one as well. I know they dont have to get anything done but I know she would if she had the $. My FH's sister won't want to but she'll look like a mess if she doesn't (not to be mean, she's beautiful but she never even wore a dress)

I think that sounds like a good idea - but maybe rather than get a gift certificate you kind find a nice way to tell them that you will spend the morning of your wedding getting ready together at whatever salon and it's on you. That way they realize the reason you're giving them the GC and that there isn't an option to use it some other time.

I think it is a great idea. Its your wedding if your FH sister has a problem say you wanted all the girls to look similar for the day and wanted you to feel comfortable and not have to worry about it.
Your friend who is a single mom will probably be estatic!!!

If it were me, I'd pay for the hair / make-up, but NOT give them a gift certificate for it.... becuase it could be misconstrued as the gift being for your wedding... I would make the morning more of a celebration of your relationship with them, and have breakfast delivered, and then go to the salon (on you). Then, you could maybe give an inexpensive but heartfelt gift (such as a framed picture of you and them).... frames at ikea or target are nice and under $10....

I agree. I think that is a great way to do it.

Re: Bridesmaid gifts (sorry, long)
Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to just pay for them & just give them a small gift. When I think of all the $ I'm spending on useless things for this wedding, it would be good to spend a little on my friends to make them happy
