Bridesmaid/MOB shopping question

My MOHs keep saying that we should go shopping for dresses ASAP as the dresses take a while to come in. I was hoping on waiting till after the holidays to go, which would give me about 9 months before the wedding. Have you ladies picked out your dresses? When did you go? When do you think I should go?

Also, when should I take my mom shopping for her dress? TIA.

You only need about 6-8 months for the bridal party dresses and your mom's dress. I am running into the Chinese New Year, this won't affect you.

I ordered mine 8 months before and they took less than 3 months to come in. I think waiting until after the holidays is your best bet.

I ultimately ordered mine through David's Bridal online and they were delivered in 2 days although that is the exception to the rule. My wedding is 5/3 and Village Bridal (where I got my gown from) said there was no problem coming in after the holidays if I was going to go through them for BM dresses & MOB

I, getting marrièd a week after you. We went and picked a bridesmaid dress a week ago but we are gunna order in February so everyone isn't tight for miney cuz of the holidays

That's what i planned on doing too. I didn't want people using $$ on getting a dress rather than getting gifts.

They take 2-3 mos.

We went looking and the dress is picked out but I was told that they only take 3-4 months to come in. I am making my girls order by April.. just to be safe

I ordered mine in late October, about 8 months in advance. I wanted to order them early 1- to get it out of the way and 2- I got a REDIC price on them at bridal elegance. I think she said they will come in around March, still early but at least its done.

ETA- I am taking my mom dress shopping over the Christmas break. We will both be off from work (we both work at schools)

We ordered them from Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. We had a fantastic experience there. My MOH was over an hour late to the apt. (long story) and the girl never even blinked. So sweet and patient!

We ordered them from Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. We had a fantastic experience there. My MOH was over an hour late to the apt. (long story) and the girl never even blinked. So sweet and patient!

That's where I got my dress from. They were so nice that I was thinking of going back there for the bridesmaid dresses. Who did you deal with? The bridesmaids dresses are in a different store than the bridal gowns. I don't think I can ask for the same attendant that helped me with my dress.

I think as long as you order six months before your date, you should be fine. And tell the bridal shop that your date is month before it actually is!!!

My philosophy with everything is the sooner the better...

I originally picked out bridesmaid dresses that turned out to be too short on my taller BM and had to change my bridesmaid dress...

Thankfully I had plenty of time to fix the problem so it took a lot of stress off...

My mom just ordered her dress a few weeks ago and my wedding is in September...

You also may not find something you like right away so start shopping! Good luck with everything!

To be honest, I don't really remember her name. It was in August, so it's been a while. You can't have the same consultant because they are in a different store, but everyone that was there seemed really nice!

I believe the earlier the better too. Just in case of mishaps its better/easier to fix with more time. I just got my dress I have 9 months to go but they say 8 is good I dont want any problems. I just happened to browse the bridesmaids too and found one I like so maybe after the holidays ill bring my girls in.
