Bridesmaid not showing up to shower

I mean seriously, and her sister made up some lame excuse...this has been my best friend from queens for 15 years, we grew up together...i mean she is really self centered, but still...i just don't know what to do...she didn' even call me! she sent a gift with her sister, but still, i don't know!

oh wow! I am sorry you are going thru this one of my BM's is not showing but she lives in the west coast and its more difficult! but wow I hope everything turns better for her

Hmmm, well I didn't go to my friends shower when I was in her BP. A very close friend of mine was getting married in Boston that day and there was no way I was going to miss it. I didn't call her either actually, because it was a surprise shower, so I couldn't so I can't make it. I talked to her after and sent her a gift, but I would be ok if someone didn't show up to mine.

Thats a tough situation....and it really scuks. I'd call her up and just see whats going on, what sure everything is ok. Hopefully she has a good reason!

i had a BM show up late..like latttteeee to my shower. her excuse was that she scheduled her cousins into her work day (shes a dental hygenist) and she couldnt cancel. umm the invites went out 6 weeks prior.

i could have gotten mad but i refuse to let anyone ruin this great time in my life so i just let it go

i know a few of my BP cant make my shower cause they live on the other side of the country... but for someone local to miss it, i would be pissed

what reason did she give? Any chance it was legitimate? Why would she want to miss your shower if she didn't have to?

ooof. that's rough was her excuse even valid or total bs?? i'd call her and see what's up. seriously weddings bring out the worst in some people!!!

I guess it would depend on the excuse. I didn't go to my MOH's baby shower, FH ended up in the hospital, but I called to let her know. She's still not talking to me. If your friend was really sick or had an emergency then I can see her not coming.

That is SO true! And it's always the people CLOSEST to you who it brings out the worst in!

even if it is a good excuse she should have called you herself at least after the shower and no later than the day after. things come up, yes, but that is just in excusable to not call and explain, you don't use a messenger for something like that. OMG if I could not make a shower and was in BP I would have called the bride a milllion times and apologized.
