Bridesmaid not showing up to shower

I couldn't go to a shower that I was a BM for b/c it was the day after my brother's wedding in NH and the shower started at 11am. It was just impossible to make it down there in time. I told her mom that it was a bad weekend but she booked it then anyway to accommodate the FH's family. As it turns out, the FH's family didn't even come!!

I called her immediately afterwards (it was a surprise) and then we met up at the beach and I gave her her presents then. I also emailed how sorry I was but she understood.

What was the excuse she gave??

well, her sister, who is also my best friend, first told me that it was an annoying story
then told me it's because shthe had to work
then told me that she's coming after work
i know she was convering up for her...this BM that didn't show up is actually pretty immature and all she still cares about is going out and getting drunk...and if she really did have to work, didn't she have enough time to request off, i mean she works at ny and co., i'm sure she could have made effort to come...actually i know she could have came, she's just really self centered and doesn't care about anyone but herself..she was probably hung over or something dumb....i don't want to get too mad, and i was thinking of making this girl my maid of honor! THANK GOD! i chose my sister in law instead! i knew not to make her my moh
