Originally FH and I were doing 5 and 5, since then I thought of three women I forgot to add. My new plan is to have the BM/MOH walk together, and have 2 bridesmaids per groomsmen to walk down the aisle...
Is 8 BM's too much? Does that sound like a dumb idea? Am I gonna screw up the pictures? Any suggestions?

Re: Bridesmaid Q
it's a lot of BM,but i've seen bigger. it's your wedding so do what you want.
i'm doing 5 BM (1 MOH, 3 BMs and 1 Jr. BM) and 3 groomsmen (1 BM and 2 GM). the 2 groomsmen are doubling up with my girls (my jr. bm is literally taller than my FH and she's his 12 yr old sister!). i never cared too much about being matchy matchy perfect.
if YOU think it's too big then i'd say have those other women do readings or something of the sort.

Re: Bridesmaid Q
I've heard of bridal parties that have like 15-20 ppl on each of the bride/groom sides. So if you want to add 3 more then I say go for it! It your wedding and your day and if you want the 3 extra girls to be by your side on your special day then I wouldn't worry about it being too many. Plus sounds like you have it all figured out on how they'll walk.

Re: Bridesmaid Q
We had 8 Bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen....two women to one very lucky man! It looked great!
You only get married once, so have the people you want with you!

Re: Bridesmaid Q
I'd keep the following in mind:
The more people you have, the more IMPOSSIBLE ANYTHING becomes to plan. the shower, the bachelorette party, who's cheduled to do this on what day, who has to work, who did this, who didn't do that, who's not pulling their weight... seriously.
The more people, the more gifts you have to buy.
Keep it as simple as possible. Honor other people in other ways on the day of.
I don't think your pics will suffer, the un-evenness would be my last concern, I'd think more about logistics. I had 6bms and I really thought I'd have it easy breezy... boy was I wrong!

Re: Bridesmaid Q
If you really care about these ladies and want them by your side on the biggest day of your life, go ahead and add them. Should two or three pictures of the bridal party really matter?

This!! The number 1 thing I would tell newly engaged people is to wait a while and think long and hard about your bridal party, if I could do it over I'd have 1 best men & 1 maid of honor!

Re: Bridesmaid Q
We have 8 on each side and I was worried too, but in all honesty FH and I have so many close friends that I cried for about a week b/c we didn't want to have anymore, but I had 2 more girls I REALLY wanted to still add... It still bothers me, but decisions are decisions and I'm having those girls bring down the gifts at the church (and one is doing a reading)... I say NO REGRETS! Have what you want to have. Just be careful though, because I have heard of brides who were upset that they had to organize so many girls for everything. I know many of my girls won't be at the b-part, which is just fine, but still a little sad. HTH!

Re: Bridesmaid Q
I say go for it! No matter how many people you have their could always be drama or problems with scheduling. It's not how many people that you have it in, it's the people you actually have in it.
We had 2 MOH's, 1 BM, 5 BMs, and 6 GMs. It was the same amount of people but I wanted to honor other people AND the girls and guys weren't that even since I had 2 MOH's and only 1 BM. I had my girls walk down the aisle together to make it easy. Then I had the 2 MOH's walk back up the aisle with the BM and my sister walk back up the aisle with 2 GM so she stood out more. I did the same thing for their entrances into the reception.
The way I honored my girls that I wanted to be in what that I told them all 'I would have loved to put everyone in the bridal party but I didn't want to put 15 girls in. I would love for you to wear a flower in your hair, that I will provide, and if you would like to match the bridal party colors that would be great.' Then I asked them all to be special people that day. I asked 1 to hand out the rose petals, 3 to be ushers since I didn't trust my GM. It was a nice way to honor them but they didn't have all the other obligations that the BP had and could enjoy the party a little extra.
