When you take your bridesmaid out looking for bridesmaid dresses, is it tradition to take them all out for lunch? Or is it okay to bake for them?

Re: Bridesmaid Question???
I took my BM out for a bite afterwards and I have also been taken to lunch or dinner after shopping when I was a BM. It is not required, just a nice gesture. It also depends on the time of day and if everyone is available and if you have money.
What were you going to bake??

We did lunch one day and frequent Starbucks trips on the other days.

Re: Bridesmaid Question???
My BMs could only make it after work, I offered to treat them to dinner, but most of them declined. I think its just a nice gesture to take them out. If anything I plan to have a bridal luncheon the day before the wedding to thank the girls for all their hard work as well as as treat them to a mani/pedi.

Re: Bridesmaid Question???
Well I love to bake and I was thinking of making everyone individual baskets up of home made brownies and cookies. But do you think it would be nicer to just take them out for a late lunch instead?

I would do it, especially since they will be putting on dresses all day, etc.

Re: Bridesmaid Question???
NOne of mine are ever available at the same time! Two have babies, one is always traveling for work, and one is i in school. I went shopping for bm dresses by myself, and bought myself coffee!

Re: Bridesmaid Question???
I just went for my bridesmaid dress for a friends wedding on Saturday (hey DAJC23) and a couple of us were going to go out to the diner afterwards but I had to go home but other than that I have never heard of going out to eat or baking everyone something but it is a nice gesture.

I only took 2 of my girls with me for dress shopping, and I did take them out for lunch afterwards.
The baskets are a nice idea, and are a thoughtful gift ...
But what I liked about going out for a meal after shopping was that it gave us an opportunity to talk over the dresses we saw ... and other wedding details ... and for these 2 BMs who didn't know each other to get to know one another a bit more.
Maybe save the baskets for part of their BM gifts?

Good point it does give everyone an opportunity to discuss the dresses of the day. I do like the basket of goodies idea too though. I think either is acceptable. Come to think of it, when I was in my friends wedding, we went to lunch after but we all chipped in to pay for her!....and the damn dresses cost us $300!! I think I'm owed lunch!!
