I'm beginning to ask my girls to be bridesmaids, and have a question about one in particular...
So my childhood best friend recently came out as a lesbian about 5 years ago. She now prefers to dress in mens clothes. I would really like her to be a bridesmaid, considering we've been best friends for 20 years. However, I am getting married in a church, and have a very conservative family, so I would like her to wear a dress.
What I've come up with is this-- asking her to wear a dress for my ceremony, and then at the reception, she can change into whatever she would like. Do you think that is unreasonable? Suggestions welcome.

Re: Bridesmaid Question
No it's not unreasonable. You have respect the fact that it's a place of worship and dress accordingly. Hopefully she will understand

Re: Bridesmaid Question
As a bridesmaid I'm sure she will understand she has to wear a dress. I think its nice and understanding of you to let her wear whatever she wants at the reception. I'm sure if you talk to her she will be fine. Express to her the you want everyone look uniform and I'm sure she will get it. Has she ever been in anyones wedding?

Re: Bridesmaid Question
No definitely not. I think that's a great idea. We know someone who is a lesbian and she wore a BM dress in our friend's wedding. Her and the groomsmen actually changed clothes for the RH entrance. It was pretty funny

totally not unreasonable. unreasonable would be saying wear the dress the whole night and not care how she feels which is probably what i would do lol
