If you have a BM that is trying to lose weight advise her to get a dress that fits her. One of my BM's swore up and down she was going to lose weight and bought her dress one size smaller. We're now 3 months away from the wedding and she has gained close to 20 pounds.

I heard the dress doesn't even fit up her a** and she won't even tell me the truth. I had to hear it from another BM. When I confronted her about it she told me it just doesn't zipper. I spoke to the store and she is able to exchange for another dress size but she is being stubborn and said this will help motivate her to lose the weight.

At this point I could care less and refuse to allow this to ruin my happiness.

Oh that's terrible! Hopefully she comes to her senses soon! I have 2 bridesmaids trying to lose weight but I told them to buy them at their current size and have them altered as needed closer to the date.

I used a dress place in Queens. They were nice, honest and cheap lol. All the BM went to have their measurements taken. When I picked the BM dress, the place said they would measure each Lady and use those measurements for their size. Nobody picked their size based on everyday clothes. None of the girls have been unrealistic about crazy diets. They've all just been losing weight as they can and want to. As it turns out they added inches to the size to make sure none of the girls felt tight in any way. They will just take it in as needed. (The alterations were included in the price for the dress so nobody minded the extra size up). If anything I've had other issues with some the ladies...attitude, lack of communication and even interest. It's definitely shifted the wedding karma. It shouldn't be, especially since I was there for their time and moments without protest.

Its always easier and safe to take in..most dresses you can't take out. They should get their current size dress and alter. Good Luck!

Bridesmaid Shopping Tips

I took all 5 of my bridesmaids dress shopping and actually everything went about as good as it possibly could have. We went to Village Bridal in Babylon, they had a decently large selection of dresses. I really only told them I wanted them to wear long dresses and everyone just started picking out dresses and trying them on. After less than an hour of that everyone agreed on one dress and we were done.
And definitely with the sizes do not allow anyone to get a different size based on their diet goals. If they lose weight it can always be taken in but fabric can't magically be added to make it 2 sizes bigger. Good luck!

I brought 5 of my 7 BM's with me the first time. I think it took us about a half an hour to pick a dress. I had wanted green dresses but everyone looked great in a dress that came in blue so I changed to blue. The two who missed the original shopping just didn't get a choice. You missed the shopping, then you have to deal with what everyone else picked out. So it was fine.. I also picked my dress that day so it was very productive.

Bridesmaid Shopping Tips

Update: I picked a dress for my Bridesmaids! We ended up doing David's Bridal due to out of town guests and other dresses I loved didn't come in the colors I wanted. Overall I would say the experience was ok even though I made an appointment was on a Thursday afternoon our stylist was helping 2 other groups. They had such a wide selection of sizes, styles, and colors. I found a couple I like then we all decided on one and I was able to pick colors out of a big box of swatches. When we tried checking out my MOH found a $20off coupon online and we asked if we can use it the stylist told us no we can't so we said we'd order online. She got upset and said they worked on commission even though she spent may a total of 10min helping us out. She made a big fuss about the coupon and when we were ready to leave she allowed us to use the coupon. My advice for any ladies shopping at David's Bridal is don't bother with an appointment or a stylist and just try on styles on your own and order online. Despite some unpleasantness towards the end by the stylist we all had fun and I loved the dresses I picked.

The two David's I've been to, wouldn't let us try on BM dresses without an appt.
