Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant

Original post by kellylee418

I have a bridesmaid, FSIL, who is trying to get pregnant. We are 9 months out from our wedding now. How would you feel about this? Would you ask her not to be in the wedding?

Also, have any of you had this situation because I was going to order the dresses in February (which was a compromise initially because the other girls wanted to order already but that's another long story). Did you order a bigger size? How much bigger? She isn't pregnant yet so it's hard because we don't know at what point of the pregnany she'll be in, if any point. HELP!!!

I kind of have the same thing. One of my BMs just got married a few months ago and said she is coming off the pill for medical reasons, which I totally understand. She says she deosnt want to be pregnant for my wedding but I have a feeling she will be.

I'm just picking a dress that the store will be able to get the extra panel piece for the belly if and when it comes.

Honestly you cannot get mad at a person for wanting to start their life. Our wedding is the most important day to us, and although it's a special day to others we cannot expect them to put their lives on hold for our one day. I would be hurt is someone got mad because i was pregnant for their wedding. I wouldn't let it bother you. It's a happy thing

If you have already asked her to be in the wedding I think it would be in bad taste to now ask her not to be a part of it. A baby is a huge part of planning out a life and as big as your wedding is, it shouldn't play a part in her decision to have a child. My sister, who is also my MOH recently told me she's pregnant. I'm ecstatic. She's due in July and I'm actually not getting married until Dec. but no matter how the dates worked out, we'd somehow make it work. I wouldn't care if she was ready to pop the day of my wedding, I'd somehow add fabric around her belly if the dress wouldnt fit, lol. I think weddings are a very big deal, but babies and a new life are muchhhhhhhh more important than my wedding.

You'll figure out the dress.. give it a lil time to see if she gets preggo quickly and then youre gonna have to ask the seamstress.. I'm sure theyve dealt with it all. Good luck and congrats to your fsil as well :o)

We actually ordered two sizes bigger because she will be breastfeeding and her boobs will be huge, lol.

Sorry girls, I know I missed this post, but I just wanted to let everyone know how we decided to deal with this.

Most dress companies will sell you a half a yard of fabric for $30-$40. It takes about 12 weeks to get it. I would suggest to her that she order it now, and then, in the event that she is pregnant, the tailor can put panels in the sides of the dress.

play it by ear... worry about it if she does become pregnant... not now !

i doubt she will get preg right away, just tell her to order it 2 sizes bigger if she is trying now, she can always get it taken in if shes not that big yet and worse case scenario they can add a panel of fabric in if she is bigger.

My cousin's MOH ended up doing the panel thing bc she ended up only being 4 months prego, but with twins. It was fine.

08 crashing. IMO I wouldn't worry. My twin sister was almost due w twins and uncertain if she could make the wedding and she was my MOH. I had a back up MOH and extra BM when it got close and it looked doubtful she was gonna make it. She had to have it tailored even more than expected. Don't let it ruin your day. She made it and even danced a little. My nephews were born 12 days later! (they waited til we got home from the HM)

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant

My sister is pregnant--due in late April--and she's holding off on looking until after she has her daughter. However, we're going to David's Bridal, and they can very easily get the right size shipped to her with no alterations necessary.

I have another BM who wants to start trying but said she would wait until after the wedding. . .I told her not to put her life on hold because of me. I don't care if somebody is pregnant in my wedding party on my wedding day--doesn't bother me at all!!!

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant

I have one thats pregnant now and the baby will be born in Aug, about 2 months before the wedding.

i have two other BMs that are beginning to try and if mother nature goes as planned, they will be well into their pregnancy by the time I get married

I'm ok with it. I cant make them stop their lives for me, but I can ask them to push it back a few weeks just incase they dont go into labor on my wedding day.
