I have a bridesmaid, FSIL, who is trying to get pregnant. We are 9 months out from our wedding now. How would you feel about this? Would you ask her not to be in the wedding?
Also, have any of you had this situation because I was going to order the dresses in February (which was a compromise initially because the other girls wanted to order already but that's another long story). Did you order a bigger size? How much bigger? She isn't pregnant yet so it's hard because we don't know at what point of the pregnany she'll be in, if any point. HELP!!!

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant
You don't know how long it will take her to get pregnant. Don't worry about it until you have to. She might not even be pregnant at your wedding, it takes some people a long time, and if she is its possible she could not even be showing yet. I wouldn't throw her out for it. If she does get pregnant in the next month or so ask her how she feels about it, she might not want to be a BM and be on her feet all day if she is 7-9 months pregnant. As for the dress, I would ask her opinion about that as well.

My sister is trying to get pregnant too. I'm not mad or upset at all though - its her life she's planning and my wedding is only one day, you know? She's going to order hers a few sizes up, she can always have it taken in if its too big.

I have a very similar situation. My best friend and MOH, is pregnant and will deliver one month before the wedding. Obviously, she will not be back to her pre-baby weight and we have no idea what size she will be but I did not ask her to step down because 1) I don't expect her to plan her children around my wedding and 2) it is important for me for her to be there. What we did was order a bigger size and she will get it altered to fit her body at the time. HTH

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant
Personally I would be happy she was trying to get pregnant. That's somehting special for her to go through. As far as kicking her out of the BP.. no I wouldn't do that.. instead I would leave it up to her. Only she knows what she is up for. And you can't kick her out before she even gets pregnant just because she is trying. I think you should wait it out and see what happens. since your wedding is 9 months away she would have to get prego right now to be popping a kid out at the wedding... so unless that happens theres a good chance she can still be in the wedding. It's ok to have prego bm's. But let it be her decision. Just reassure her that you are there for her... and if she thinks it too much and needs to drop out that its totally ok with you. Make her feel comfortable with dropping out if that's the route she needs to go. the place you buy the dress from should be able to help you out with measurements for prego people... it can't be the first time they came accross it! Perhaps pick out the dresses in advance but don't order them until later on. Don't order any of the dresses until later.... because of that thing with the colors matching perfectly and all. But if you pick it out now and wait a little bit for ordering it you should be ok. Also, they can adjust dresses up to 5 sizes. so have her order the biggest size she can and think about taking it in instead of ordering a dress that may become too small.
I just re-read that she is FSIL! You definately do not want to create any bad memories because she is part of FH family and thus will be around you for a very very long time. Your kids will be cousins... so be careful with how you choose to handle this.

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant
Well, no it's not like I want to kick her out of the wedding.
I really just don't know what to do about the dress - I called RK Bridal and asked and they were basically like we can't tell you what to do because she is trying to get pregnant and we don't know at what point of the pregnancy she will be in. All the other girls want to order their dresses. In fact, they wanted to order in November but I held off because of her but now they are like let's go and it is frustrating everyone because yes she might be trying to get pregnant but she is 1 of 8 girls and 6 of the others want to order.
Those that have had similar situations, how many dress sizes bigger did you order their dress?
Thanks ladies...

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant
i doubt she will get preg right away, just tell her to order it 2 sizes bigger if she is trying now, she can always get it taken in if shes not that big yet and worse case scenario they can add a panel of fabric in if she is bigger.

if there is a possibility that she will be in her last trimester i would order maybe 2 sizes bigger...they could help you at the bridal shop with that...maybe you would be able to choose a flattering dress with the possibilty of turning it into a maternity dress

My Sis and MOH has been trying for a while.....Its not going well for her We talked to the woman at the bridal store when my sis ordered her dress and she ordered her 1 size bigger. Honestly I don't care if I have to order her another dress a week b4 the wedding. I want her to get pregnant so she can stop stressing!!!

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant
I had a BM who was trying to get preggers - due to uncertainty as to size and other stuff (drama basically) - she dropped off out of the wedding. I wouldn't ask her not to be in it, but I would get her thoughts as to what she wanted to do.
ETA: The store actually recommended if she was gonna be preggers to order the dress 5 sizes bigger.

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant
I would just tell her that if you are trying to get prego then I don't want to put the added stress of you being in the wedding and leave it up to her.
I think she will totally understand because if I were trying to get prego and or was prego, I wouldn't want to commit to someones wedding if I couldnt 100% guarentee I could be in it......just post it to her in a way where you are looking out for her needs and leave it up to her....my BM preggo now but will have had the baby by the time of my wedding so we are going to order her a size or two bigger so she has some wiggle room

Re: Bridesmaid trying to get pregnant
My brothers wife was almost 8 months pregnant for the wedding....she ordered her dress two sizes bigger (right before she was even pregnant) just incase! I wouldnt ask her to not be in the wedding. I would tell the bridal salon that she is intending on getting preggers and they will tell u how many sizes up to order. HTH gl
