I am thinking of asking my bridesmaids to choose their own dresses. Maybe just setting the rules that it has to be black, chiffon, floor length or whatever.
Has anyone done this?? Have pics?? I'd like to see how it ends up looking...

I actually picked out about 6 that I liked. Then told them to pick which ones they like the best. In my ablum is one of htem the other has straps I just dont have pics up yet! It was better b/c the girls are all diffrent sizes.

Alfred Angelo sells separates. Perhaps you can pick a color and let the BM's chose the style that suits them?

the last 2 weddings that I was a bridesmaid in had this. The bride choose the color and store, and let the bridesmaid choose the dress that looked best on them. It made everyone happy.

I did that. I picked the color that I liked and asked that all of them choose from the same company (the company was up to them) so that the material would be the same. They all, but the MOH, ended up choosing the same dress, and looked great! Check my album for their photos

For my BFF's wedding we all ended up with different dresses from the same designer, same material and same color...she didnt plan to do this it just happened and worked out well
For mine I set a date and invited all my girls..(a cplecouldnt make it) and let them pick the dress..to be honest it was kind of stressful..I wish I would have done what my BFF did and let them each pick their own bc they were fighting...ultimately they picked an a-line that really looked good on all of them but it was a long process lol

i let me girl pick their own dresses bcuz i knew they had good taste. the only problem i had was that they took FOREVER to choose one bcuz none of them could agree on ONE dress. in the end though they did pic a gorgeous dress

i dont see anything wrong with this so long as u pick one designer & one material...only for the fact that (example:) u may say 'u can pick whatever dress u want as long as it's blue'...but every designers blue is different...so that's the only thing i'd be careful of(along with the material)...u may also want to consider tea-length of full gown. but i love the look & people usually pick what looks best on them & what they're most comfortable in

I am choosing the color and they will all go to the same store. I will go with them and have them try on whatever styles they like in the color. I want them to have a say in what they like & feel comfortable wearing.

I did this! Black, chiffon and knee length were my only requirements. It has worked out so far. Girls have bought dresses in any price range they want and they can definitely re-wear the dresses. I've been a BM many times and I would LOVE a bride who asked me to just pick any dress...not to toot my own horn. lol...
Also-it's less stress on you. I've gone shopping with the girls separately but I had no stress about finding ONE dress they would all be confy in. I say go for it!

You might also consider giving them a specific designer or a couple of designers to look at . Most designers have complimentary styles that come in the same fabrics and colors. Otherwise you might get too much variation and not be happy with the final look.

i agree w/ sticking w/ one designer and one shade and let them pick alternative dress styles that suit them

I had my Maids of Honor pick out the dress but if I hated it I told them I would tell them. Well...I love it!! Going tonight to pick out the color combo. If you have quite a few girls in your wedding party it might be hard to get them all to agree!!

i am pickin color and designer. all the pics i have seen and weddings i have attended looked amazing.. nothing is worse than seeing someone uncomfortbale in a dress they look sos bad in pics

i like the idea...but just make sure your girls are up for it...i mean...motivated to go pick a dress out....lol i originally was going to do that too but it ended up being too much..no one had the time to go pick a dress and it didnt work out...then they all ended up liking/wanting the same gown anyway!
