Did you guys pick you BM colors based on time of year? I like purple but I am thinking maybe its too dark for the summer. Your opinions please. TIA

Two of my friends are using purple and one is in the end of may and one is in the beginning of june, actually a week apart and I'm in both wedding parties! I want to use red, I have always loved red and didn't care when I was getting married!!! Use whatever color you want it's YOUR wedding!!!!

I think purple works year round, although a very pale purple in a light fabric like chiffon might not be as suited to a winter wedding. Anything goes these days though!
i wanted blue dresses so i didn't decide color based on the season, but i did pick a summery lightweight fabric (tissue taffeta) since it will be Aug. Might have gone with a heavier satin if it was winter.

I personally looove black and white wedding, but we ended up doing daphne pink for July, which is a dark pink.

I think purple is fine for summer....mine are black and honestly.... I probably would have went with black no matter what time of year I was getting married. You could always do a lighter shade of purple but I think even the dark purple would be fine.

I am having this color. Its called Victorian Lilac and I am getting married in August. I don't think its too dark at all and I don't think it matters anymore what time of year. Get what you love!
Oh...I had black BM dresses for a summer afternoon wedding! They looked GREAT!!
Very true! And you matched the black with awesome bright colored flowers which IMO was great for a day wedding!!

If you love a color, use it. there is no absolute rule.
If you think it might be too dark, try different shades of purple... like lavendar or lilac.

you can use any color any time...maybe go with a little lighter or brighter purple if you are nervous??? im sure it will be beautiful...you can always make it brighter with the flowers too!

alfred angelos lavender is really pretty and its light i picked that for my BM dresses i cant wait to see them on the girls!

purple is fine year round and nowadays like other posters said any color goes even black in summer.. i think oranges and browns are probably best for fall though ..although maybe a happy orange can work for summer too.. eh nevermind it really does not matter ! 20 years from now looking at ur pics no one is gonna say..heyy but wasnt it august?

I wore that color in 2 weddings.. one in may 05 and one in april 07.. looks great in pics

I always wanted Red but then i saw the Persimmon and wanted to do something different. My wedding is in March 08.
Here is a pics of the dress. Some of the girls on the board suggested yellow for flowers? Any more ideas?
