Bridesmaids' Dress Shopping last night

Bridesmaids' Dress Shopping last night

was disappointing.

I went to Village Bridal because I ordered my dress there.

First I found a Bill Levkoff that I like but it doesn't come long and I don't want short dresses. IT was a pretty simple dress and they told me they had nothing else like it. It was just a v-neck with straps chiffon dress with a band around the waist? I could probably get the same gown at David's Bridal...

Then I found a Bella (I think) gown with a silk underlay and a sheer chiffon overlay, but it was fucshia underneath and midnight blue on top. The woman who worked with me told me she culdn't show me what other colors would look like laid on top of one another and if I couldn't picture the colors I wanted, if they would look good, then I should not go with that dress.... ***? I just wana see what one swatch looks like over another swatch... but we couldn't make that happen.

ANNNNYYYWAAAYYY, I REALLY don't wanna go to DB... Are there any recommendations for BM dress shopping? I found VB's selection to be a little lacking but I dunno if my standards were way too high or not... Who has a good selection?

Did you see the long one I have - I have it in my album - it's vneck and very flattering - all my girls were happy b/c it was slimming and they could wear regular bras! You know I'm partial to you and VB

Haha!! I know! I don't care for the flowers though. I think I saw that one last night.

I really wasn't thrilled with this lady and her 'tude. I'd love to ind this bella dress somewhere in another color and see what it looks like. :-/

Did you go on the Bill Levkoff site? He has other dresses w/vneck....if that's what you want....I couldn't recommend other places b/c I only went to one - there's definitely one place I wouldn't recommend in Nassau County - let me know if you're considering going into NC and I'll tell you which one - had a bad experience with my cousins wedding

Alfred Angelo had some v-necks with chiffon overlays and they are reasonably priced you should check out their online

So the blue one is the dress I realy like but doesn't come long

The second one I like too, I like tafeta... the sample was a little small on my MOH so the whole dress should be shifted down a bit but I think you get the idea... and its bill Levkoff who has the EXACT shade of cornflower I had in mind for my BMs.

I went to Bridal Reflections and was very pleased with the selection. And the girl gave me swatches of the colors I want in the same fabric as the dress to bring home.

It's satin, which I don't like, and it's a halter and I'm wearing a halter. I so appreciate you looking though!!

I figured. They have new management now - but I still don't go there (I have been going to DBs for years for various weddings).

I found the staff at the Astoria location to be LOVELY. I also had no problem with the Lake Grove store. I dealt with both locations recently for my wedding - I was opposed to DB as well but they released a dress in the fall that was exactly what I was looking for. So that was that.

And also...I have mentioned about Westbury to the other stores, and the response is always 'oh.....we know'

Well, maybe just cause you're awesome, I'll reconsider. I heard bad things about Lake Grove too though, I dunno if it's the same situation there...I was HOPING to just do everything at VB so my girls could get a discount, but whatever. I'll take a look at their website. Again.

I also got all 7 dresses from the DB in LIC. No problems at all. I had them all try on 1 dress that we thought was going to look good (didn't work for the larger busted girls). The girl let me look through the rack as well as gave me a book. We picked about 3 and she brought another 2 (I specifically didn't want satin) so that also limited my selection.

Anyone found one all the girls loved (even thought it was a few $$ more) Asked for a discount the girl asked the manager and they gave each girl $$ off. All dresses came in perfectly in 2 weeks. They even have the option to exchange if alterations have not been made.

Good to know, Van, thanks!

Well I'll be honest, service at Lake Grove was fine last month. But I got a BM dress with embroidery on the neckline from them three years ago........some of the beading on it was undone, so I asked them to fix it (always comes with extra beads, shouldn't have been a big deal)...........they came back 20 minutes later with it and instead of re-doing them, they took a few off, and then knotted the end of the thread a million times into a ball. I handed it back and told them to order me a new one.

I don't have faith in any of their alterations depts though, unless you know someone specific there (FYI: GLORIA in Westbury is fantastic).
