Bridesmaids dresses.. have you?
We just chose ours. The girls will be getting fitted by the end of August. One of my bridesmaids leaves for college on 8/20 and won't be home again until Christmas so I had to find one before she leaves.

I went a while (before even starting my dress search!) but only to scope out colors, I was trying to decide everything at once and needed to lock down a color preference and see it in person to make sure I love it lol. I'm going with David's Bridal because I just want simple short dresses and need to keep them inexpensive for my Bridesmaids. We still haven't settle on style I'm waiting to get all of them together but I'm glad I found a color/style I like so when we do go its easier.

I picked it out w my moh. I knew I wanted short and I was in between two colors. This helped me narrow down the color scheme for the wedding hitch helped me in turn plan the little things too and of course flowers. I am a very matchy person
I'm going in two weeks with all my girls and the moms. It's just easier to get everybody together during the summer and it's about a year out now, so why not start now? I like to get everything done early!

We're getting married about a week apart and i'm thinking about going with the girls in September. I'll go with my sisters first, narrow it down to 2 and then have everyone come and we can decided between the 2 together. You never know what can happen with dresses...so better to be safe then sorry and order with plenty of time!
I went shopping at the end of April to pick it out. I felt like it was a bit too early (a year away) so Bridal Reflections kept my info and the dress I wanted on file for a few months. My girls just started ordering them at the end of June!

I will be going the first week of August, because that's the only time my sisters (who are also my MOH and junior bridesmaid) will be in NY before the wedding. So that makes it a little over a year out. I'd rather get things done sooner than later in my case, since 3 of my 4 bridesmaids don't live in the US..

I've started looking but I'm still leaning towards just having the girls pick out their own long, black chiffon dresses.
So far this dress is my favorite. I like that the flowers around the neck would compliment the flower detail on my dress.
I was completely against the whole 'choose your own dress in the same color, material, designer, length', but I might be changing my mind about it.
I have only looked online purely because I just haven't made time to go in person. Three of my BMs live in different cities, and one of those girls is taking the Bar exam at the end of July, so i feel it's unfair to pull her away from that to go shopping for a dress.
Katie, I absolutely LOVE this dress, unfortunately, most of my BMs have larger 'girls', and wouldn't be comfortable with this open back.
I wish it wasn't an open back... my MOH has like a 40DDD situation and its also the middle of winter...
I really don't want to deal with BM dresses. I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with my original plan.
Black, long,chiffon... and it needs my approval before you buy it.

Re: Bridesmaids dresses.. have you?
I looked for bridesmaids dresses already. We also ordered them as well. We went to a Jim Hjelm trunk show and my girls were able to get 10% off, so we just decided to bite the bullet. Plus they can take about 6 months to get in, so I was like I'd rather be safe.
It's style JH5228 and we ordered it in ballet pink. It's like a shimmery pink color. I'm going for pink, silver, & black wedding colors, so it fit perfect. It's hard to find a nice shade of pink!

I think I am the only bride not rushing everything.. i hope it doesnt bit me in the a@@ lol.. But I am going with my girls and moms sometime next month. I already kinda decided on a color.I went to look at dresses I liked with my mom and then again with my MOH. I may switch to a different last minute but still a color with in my scheme.. I am going in two days with my mom for my dress though :)

I have not looked yet. Well, I take that back. I look online all the time, lol. Per discussions with one of my BM (FSIL) we want to do mermaid silhouette in satin. I like neutrals and our wedding is all ivory, gold, champagne; my mom is wearing gold and my grandma champagne, so I think I want the girls in a champagne or very light blush color. I think we will start seriously thinking about dress shopping at the 1 year mark.

I looked pretty early but I've known my color scheme pretty much since I got engaged. My sister is my MOH and lives in North Carolina, she doesn't get up here too often because she has twin 6 year old boys, so when she was up for our engagement party in March and I wanted to go with her. So we looked and picked out designer, material and length. She picked her dress, which wasn't an option for any of the other girls, and we picked 5 styles for the other girls to choose between. 3 of my 4 BM's ended up picking the same dress though so now I'm having all 4 in the same Bill Levkoff dress. They have to have their measurements in to Bridal Elegance by the end of the month. I could wait a little longer (it takes about 3-4 months) but I'd rather it just be done and allow extra time for any unexpected delays.

Check on that. I let all my girls pick out their own dresses as long as it was long and chiffon. They're all wearing different dark jewel tone colors that I assigned to them.

I haven't looked yet. In the beginning, I kept telling myself that I already knew what colors and what kind of dresses I wanted, but now that I should really be getting my a$$ in gear, I realize I have no idea and I'm pretty behind with a lot of stuff. Thank goodness I'm a teacher and have this summer off!
I would say that it definitely can't hurt to get started early, especially if you have a larger bridal party where it may be difficult to get everyone there to get measured - no harm in having it out of the way. One less thing to stress about as your day gets closer!

Bridesmaids dresses.. have you?
I've been to about three places with some of my girls to try on dresses. I only did this because on of my BM (my FH's niece) is in town and was originally only staying a few days. BM dress shopping has been SOO stressful. I loved some dresses at David's Bridal but I also knew how limited their options could be and I originally wanted something chiffon. Everything at David's Bridal in chiffon looked horrible on my girls. Then while going to other places, I fell in love with chiffon. It's tough for me since my matron of honor lives in California and I have a BM who lives in Jersey who is super busy with a family so I want to give them both plenty of time to try on the dresses near them, send me pictures, etc. And for some of my BMs it'll take them some time to save up money for the actual dress. So we'll see. I'm aiming for a cocktail length strapless dress for the regular BMs and for my MOHS something one strapped or with added detailing at the top. At David's Bridal, I'd go with their Malibu color, in other dresses I'm thinking Cerulean or brazil (these colors are on Weddington Way). I loved all of Bill Levkoff's dresses but he doesn't make a nice light blue color.
