Bridesmaids dresses - how soon

how long before the wedding should I have the bridesmaids get their dresses?

i went looking with the girls maybe 9-12 mos before. we went to a few stores, and found the dress we liked. We ordered them 5 mos before, and I think they took about 2 mos to come in....

it takes 2-3 months in most cases to come in I went looking around the 5 month marker.

My girls just put their order in literally last week and I am getting married in Nov..I would rather be early than late but I think I am on the early side.

I'm getting married in April and we are placing the order on Saturday....but I wouldn't say I'm the best example to follow.

I would say to order them 6 months before-- if they take three months to come in, give the girls another 3 to have alterations or have that cushion if the wrong size comes in, etc.

i started looking about 8 months before.. they were ordered by Nov and they should be here by mid Jan or early feb.. HTH

My wedding is at the end of May and my BM's just ordered their dresses last month. Just waiting on the MOH still

i think its depends on the store. my MOH & i have already begun looking at ideas. (i am getting married April 2010). we will be ordering in June 2009. i was in a wedding recently and we ordered 10 months in advance & luckily we did since the wrong dress was ordered. so after i dealt with that experience i will be ordering in advance.

I agree with ordering early, because they usually need alterations and sometimes they get the wrong dress or wrong size. We ordered 8 months before the weddings for two of my friends.

I would use 3 months as a standard amount of time to allow for the order to come in. Sometimes it's even sooner. For my cousin's wedding we ordered BM dresses from David's Bridal and in two weeks they were ready to be picked up! WHAT!!
