Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
Most of my bridesmaids are not planning to have their makeup done, which really is not a big deal to me... As long as they can do it themselves so that it looks good for the pictures and stuff I really don't care... I kinda hinted that I would like it to be a little 'more' than usual but didn't specify much other than that...Hair, they should definetly have done though right?? I am unsure of how to tell them that... Most of them know I think but I don't want to come off as a 'bridezilla' :)
Thanks for your help!

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
I was in a wedding where the bride paid for all of us to get our hair done. She made the appointments, and we all went together.Plus, since my friend paid for our hair, everyone decided that they would get their makeup done since they saved $$ on the hair.
It was so wonderful, so I plan on doing the same thing for my girls....

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
I have 8 girls so that might be a little much, plus very time consuming!! I like the idea but I don't think I could swing it money wise...

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
I see your point.Maybe you can suggest something like: I just want to make sure that you all have your hair appointments set up. Or, I hope you don't mind, but I'd like everyone to have Updo's for the wedding.
Maybe they'd get the point that way?

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
I told my girls their will be someone at the house for hair and makeup. only one had a problem with it. so i told her fine then you can do your own thing but you have to be on time and look nice. sounds nasty but this is important. It would love to pay for everyone but I just cant and I think that people should know they need to do something a little extea

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
Same here. The makeup would be a nice bonus but I really don't care if they do that. The hair, on the other hand, I want everyone to do.What I did was sent out an email with the prices and info for who's (probably) doing my hair. Here's what I wrote (I save all wedding related emails in a separate email folder -
<--------NERD!!!)
The hair lady who I think it's going to be (still waiting to hear back from her to confirm) is $75 for formal hair, 'less' for a blow out (she didn't say how much though). She too will be coming to me and will need to know the total number of people who will be using her as well. Since it's a Sunday, salons will be at a lesser staff and therefore a smaller capacity for the number of people, just as an FYI. If you want to go 'off-site' I can garner some recommendations for salons, including the one I go to regularly and just had my hair done there for a wedding 2 weeks ago ($65 for an updo).
It basically let them know that I'd like their hair done without explicitly stating it all bridezilla-like.

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
I know a girl who was in a wedding party and had her hair done. She didn't like it so she took it down and did it herself. Her hair looked messy. I would say have the girls chose whose one they would want done.

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
One of my bridesmaid will definitely need her makeup and hair done. But she doesn't like to spend oney on such things. I want to tell my BM's that they all have to get their maeup and hair done, but I don't know if that is considering a bridezilla move or not.

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
Lucikly all my girls already asked me how they should wear their hair, so they answered the questions for me that they are getting it done. I asked one straight out..do you want your hair done and she said yes, and one has very very short hair that she can do herself because there isint much she can do with it. I couldnt afford to pay for all their hair, but if one of them said they couldnt afford it and wanted it, I would have paid.

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
That's what I think I'm going to do, is tell them that I would really like for all of them to have their hair done, and if it is a problem monetarily that I will take care of it... I am really only worried about my cousin (who wouldn't really know any better, and I think my aunt would!) and maybe one or two of my friends... Thanks everyone!

I think this is a really tactful way to do it.

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
I'm having a hair/makeup person come to my house and I'm going to let my girls choose if they want to do it themselves or have it done by her. I trust that they'll look good in either case. I'm not going to dictate much more than the dress - I will let them each make decisions on hair, accessories, etc. It will be fun to see their personalities come out even when dressed alike!

Re: Bridesmaids hair and makeup...
unless they have super short hair (which would be a waste to get it done) I think they should have to done professionally. If they can't afford it I would recommend paying for it for them...maybe as their gifts or part of their gift. Depends on how important it is to you...otherwise let them do their own hair lol

I like the idea of letting them all know how much the cost would be by them coming to you or choosing to have it done themselves. That way it pushes them to think about it if they haven't alreadyWelcome New Vendors
