Bridesmaids in different dresses?

Original post by NovemberBride07

Anyone have (or thinking of having) each of your bridesmaids wear a different dress? both my sisters are my MOHs and will each wear the same color but different dresses (I want them to be different from the BMs). I was thinking of having my bridesmaids do the same thing.......

I'm so confused!!!!! I like the idea that they will each wear a dress they love but at the same time, I like the 'uniformity' of them wearing the same dress

what do you think? please post pics if you have any

TIA!

I am seriously wrestling with this idea also. I don't know if I want different styles in the same color, or the same style in different colors... I'm thinking it is going to have to be different styles in the same color, since my BM's are such a wide variety of sizes and shapes...

After reading this, I found a bunch of dresses that are different styles, but all cocktail length chiffon. I am having a July wedding. I am looking for all the dresses to be sage or honeydew.

The pics aren't working right now, but they are all Watters and Watters.

Re: Bridesmaids in different dresses?

I'm having several different dresses, but all the same color. It was hard for me, as I'm having my older sister as my MoH, but my young nieces as bridesmaids (and the youngest as flowergirl.) My sister is in one dress, the older BMs in another, and the youngest is wearing the same dress as the flowergirl, although hers is navy and the flowergirl is in yellow. And I may be adding my goddaughter, and it's probably too late to order the same dress as my older BMs, so if so she'll have yet another navy dress. I don't mind, it's not a very formal wedding, and I'm hoping that the color will tie everything together. Oh, and I'm getting all the girls matching tiaras, a similar but less elaborate version of mine. What young teen wouldn't want to wear a tiara?

I've seen weddings before with different dresses, and I think it looked good--I hope so, as I'm doing it! The reason I chose navy was because I knew I'd be having more than one dress designer or manufacturer, and it's the only color other than white or black where it's pretty much the same. Or I'm betting it will be! I realize they're going to look different, as they're different fabrics, but I think it will look OK. As I said, it's not a very formal wedding. But if you want any other color than white, black or navy I suggest you go with one color but different dresses from the same designer and dye lot.
