has anyone heard of this? a friend just spilled her 'secret' that her bridal party rented their gowns. its was really affordable, and alterations were included. i was intrigued by the idea.
i dont think i care, since im not wearing it...so i asked two BM. one said she thought it was a good idea, since she never wears a BM dress again. the other said she wouldnt want to do it.
your thoughts?

my friend got it from a store in chinatown. she actually rented her wedding dress too. and it was a new maggie model! she is going to take me in march if im interested. sounds interesting.....

I've heard of it, but don't know anyone who did it. since dresses are a lot more delicate than a tuxedo, I'd want to know if it is damaged or stained by another person before you get it.. do they have more in the color/size or are you stuck. I know that I have snagged Chiffon dresses the first time I've worn them and sometimes the snags cant' be smoothed out. KWIM. men's tuxedos are made from such a bulletproof fabric and they are so basic that they keep so many of the same in stock.. but a BM dress, I can't imagine how many in each size color and style they can have on hand.

A lot of Asian Wedding Studios do this, prices are pretty good & you'd be surprised with the quality.

Other places are:
Just Pretty in Chinatown Highlight Studios in Chinatown Eternal in Flushing
All these places don't carry too many different styles and colors so they are limited with what they offer. However, at True Love, we were able to rent their dresses w/ an extra $50 for them to order a new dress. We booked a whole package with them for video/photo/albums/studio pix/makeup/hair so we were stuck with them w/ the bm dresses.

We had the option of renting BM gowns but my girls decided to buy their own anyways since I let them pick their own dress. 2 of my BM were able to wear their dress again for another event.
I used True Love and they offer rentals but let me tell you, their sizes are very limited. Without offending anyone, lets just say they cater to small asian girl. I'm a size 0 and I trouble fitting into some dresses they have. The styles are limited. If it's a popular color like lavender, they might have 2 for you to choose from.

My mother rented her MOB gown for my brothers wedding...very affordable...someplace in stonybrook or port jeff...if your interested I will ask her the details
