Bridesmaids...Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Bridesmaids...Decisions, decisions, decisions...

I'm sure many of you can relate to this. Here is my situation:

I am choosing my really good friend of 8 yrs as my MOH. We have always been close, but have been super duper close the past 4 yrs.
I am also choosing another friend of 10 yrs to be my BM.
My other BMs will be my cousin, and my FH's 2 sisters.
In addition, one of my really close friends of the past 5 years will be my BM & koumbara (kind of like a Greek MOH).

Here is my dilemma: All through HS, I was BFF with this girl. When college came we were still very, very close. Over the past 3 years, our friendship has dwindled. At this point, we pretty much just have a phone relationship (and we live 5 min away from one another). I don't want to get into specifics, but we are just at diff points in our lives and we don't have much in common anymore. She feels differently though. She still sees me as a sister and bff. I don't agree with a lot of the things she says and does so that is why I have distanced myself. But she wants to be very involved in my wedding. She has mentioned being my MOH when in reality I didn't even intend to have her as a BM. She trash talks all of my friends bc she is jealous of them. I know it will KILL her if she is not in my wedding party. I am afraid to see what would happen if I don't ask her. It is not my intention to hurt feelings, but this is my day. Additionally, she has immense financial problems and is in bad shape health-wise so I don't even know how she would be able to handle the responsibility of being a BM.

Sorry for the long rant. What do I do??????

I think you need to do what you feel in your heart you want to do, and not have her up there. Unfortunately, at some point, she's going to have to realize that you don't see eye to eye on your friendship and it's not fair for either of you to perpetuate the illusion. Also, I was turned off by that part about her trashing your friends. A true friend would not do that, jealous or not. I don't think you have to make a point to deliberately tell her she's NOT in your wedding (she'll figure it out) unless she says/ asks something, at which point you just need to honestly tell her that you had difficult choices to make but ultimately you're only having the other 5 girls in the party, (friends who you see on a regular basis and family) though you value her friendship. Good luck and keep us posted.

I def. think that if you don't feel now that you want her as a BM, then you will def. wont want her later. Please do yourself a favor and don't put her in the wedding because you feel bad. I had to tell a couple of close friends and cousins that I spoke to about why I was not having them in the wedding and it was hard, but I knew it was right for me (and I am close to and LOVE these people). I think the key is to sit down and talk to her. Let her know that your intentions are not to make her feel bad, but you already chose your wedding party (or whatever you think is appropriate to say). Good luck!
