We had 25 people in our bridal party, including 7 BM. Without elaborating, my answer to your question is that ONE BM is to many!!

I'm a fan of smaller bridal parties mean more intimate! I'm only have MOH and 1 BM. That's just how I am. How many is too many? You should have who is close to you. If that consists of 10 people then those 10 people should be honored. JMO

there is no such thing as too many it is all what you are comfortable with - i have been to weddings with 1 and i have been to them with 20 it depends on the person

Re: bridesmaids...how many is too many?

I have a MatronOH, MOH, 5 BM, 2 RB
FH has 1 BM, 7 GM
He wanted to have 1 BM and 11 GM but I made him cut it down! After all is said and done, he is really glad he did cut his side. He is having more issues with his guys than I am having with my girls. It's kind of nice to be on the other side!

ETA: I think the number of attendants also really depends on the number of people attending the wedding. A wedding of 80 people would look silly with 20 attendants (IMO) but again it is really just what makes you all happy.

Re: bridesmaids...how many is too many?

From the pint of view of a person with only 4 people ( 2 & 2)--there are pros & cons. Witha small group, dresses & gifts were easier. I could get them more $ flowers, b/c it was just 2, there isn't a lot crap & feeling left out of plans etc.

Cons -( sorta)having 2 people throw a shower is tough, so my whole family pitched in, but they wanted to.

since I only picked 2 girls , there are other people we wnat to include, and ther are only some many readers & little jobs to go around.

Since the best man is with FH at the alter, we only have 1 usher, so we he may not be bale to seat everyone, unless we have non bridal party people help.

its up to you how many people you want and whats gonna make you happy just make sure they are reliable and that somewhere down the line you dont have to say i shouldnt have picked this person.
i got excited and asked all these girls, 9 of them ( of them now all of a sudden there are only 6 with MOH and some of the girls i have arent the original girls i asked.
its crazy pick the people you are closest with and good luck

fh's cousin got married a few years back and had 30 pairs in the bridal party...

i say go for it, you wouldn't want the most special people in your life to miss out on participating on the most important day of your life

Re: bridesmaids...how many is too many?

I think you should have whoever is closest to you on your day. They do said the more people you have, the greater your budget will be. We have many friends and it'd be whoever hard to decide who to choose so We decided that we wanted to keep things simple, intimate, and small and ask those people closest to us. So we are having 1 Matron of Honor, 3 Bridesmaids and 3 Ushers, 1 ring boy. Still undecided about the FlowerGirl. Most likely not having one. We are having other close people to us do readings and special things the day of.
It's your day so do what's comfortable for both of you.

...the more headaches! just kidding

i was thinking the EXACT same thing!! i have 4 BM and 1 MOH and 1 FG - FH has 2 BM and 4 GM.

i say do what makes you happy and dont worry about bp gifts. its your day - have who you want!!

'the more the merrier'...
we have...
7 BM (including MOH)
9 GM (including Bestman)
2 FG
no RB

I really wanted an even BP but things just wokred out this way... I feel that if you want a certain person to be in your BP then ask them... you obviously want to ask them for a special reason...

I had the same feelings. I wan't sure how many was too much. When I told my family that I would have 8 BMs, and 8GM. My dad laughed and I was insulted. However, I came to the conclusion that I love the girls that I have picked and would not want anyone to be left out of my special day. I also think that it will be more fun having all my roomates from college who are my dearest friends than leaving 2 or 3 out because my bridal party would be 'too big.' I've known them for 10 years now and we get together 4 to 5 times a year..no matter where we need to travel. I couldn't imagine my wedding without them by my side.

Have who you want. It is your day.

Do whatever you want and what makes you happy..BUT...my sister only had 5 BMs and 5 GM and it was INSANE trying to coordinate everyone for dress fittings, the shower, the bach party, etc..the more people, the more logistically difficult it is
