Re: Bridezilla Moments
My FMIL thinks I'm bridezilla in general because I asked my mom, BMs, and her to help stuff invitations and wrap favors... and yes, she said it to me directly... needless to say, I was none too thrilled and became the 'bridezilla' that she said I was and told her that I invited her out of 'courtesy' and she and her comments are not needed nor wanted and it'd be better if she just stays out of the planning and just shows up for the wedding... too harsh?? I guess so, but when you have a FMIL that holds the potential gift ($$ - we're paying for the wedding) over our heads EVERY time she doesn't get HER way - it's about time someone put her in her place.

I flipped out on my hair salon when they tried to raise the price of the BM's makeup weeks after we had booked the appointment... and I'm not even paying for that!
They deserved it, though.
I also put my foot down and said that my SIL's 3-year old son CANNOT come to the RD. He was NOT invited, they knew about it in advance, and they just failed to make babysitting arrangements. My brothers live OOT and managed to find sitters. I wasn't having an uninvited 3 year old at a party that runs from 8-11.
Amazingly, after we put our foot (feet?) down, they found a sitter. I'm a beyotch, I guess!
I love it!
And a FREE sitter at that. Amazing what people can do when they realize they have to...
I won't bend over backwards for FSIL - she's a bridesmaid and not only did she not attend my shower and not even send a card or gift, she didn't even RSVP to it. No way I'm making a child exception for her.
OMG, how rude!!!!!!!!!

Re: Bridezilla Moments
Oh... I forgot this one... I flipped out on my MOH for her inability to plan a bridal shower...
a. She originally told me to cut the list in half (100 to 50 - and I did as best as I could), then
b. She sent out the invites to half of the people I put on the smaller list, and the best one yet,
c. She put her OLD house phone number for people to RSVP ('cuz she moved in the interim - and literally REFUSED to let the other BMs help... literally - you should hear what she told them),
d. When no one RSVP'd, she didn't call me or FH for numbers to find out what happened, then,
e. When I found out that four of my friends didn't get an invitation to the shower, I asked the other BMs about sending them an invite (this was three weeks b4 the shower - enough time so they said)... she waited 'til two DAYS before the shower to invite them. Her excuse, she was busy with her baby... (I feel like I'm in the movie 'Old School' with her... look at the baby... look at the baby!)...
OH I'm not done with her yet... f. She ordered a maternity dress in January (the wedding is in Nov.) and is STILL on birth control (and it's July???)... hmmm... are you as confused as I was/am??
g. refuses to come to another BMs apt for a 'girl's night in'-type bach. party for the married BMs (basically trying to accomodate her), because she doesn't want to leave her two year old with HER husband for a couple of hours...
AND THE LIST GOES ON PEOPLE!
AS A SIDE NOTE - 16 people came to my shower (out of 60 people I had on the 'cut-down' list)

Re: Bridezilla Moments
I had a minor one the first time that one of my BMs and my MOH went dress shopping. I wanted something form fitting and simple while my BM said that she wanted me to try on something 'poofy' and highly decorated.
Well anyone who knows me is aware that I'm not the most easily persuaded person to begin with.
So as I'm trying on dresses, she begins to point at mermaid dresses (mind you i'm 5' 0' on a GREAT day) and saying 'Look at those, they are a good compromise on what I want and what you want.' .....WHAT!!.... Well I just went the H. E. double hockey sticks OFF!! I told her '.....'SCUSE ME!! ....Compromise!! There is no compromise! This is no democracy it's a bride-ocracy!! . Now when it comes time to pick out your wedding dress you can fluff and bedazzle it up all you like, but i'm picking out what I want!!'
Now, i'm sorry I had to flip on my girl like that but believe me it was not the first time she tried to put her opinions on me (e-party was a story onto its self!!! ugh.... )
eta: spelling, got excited...LOL

Re: Bridezilla Moments
I've had a few... actually I think maybe I've just been a bridezilla about all the planning and getting everything done when exactly I want it done. FH kids around and tells me all the time that I'm being one, but I really don't think I'm bad at all!
I think I had my real official first one these past couple of weeks with my florist... when I booked with them in March they said they wanted me to come in for a sample in August because that's when my flowers would be in season. I asked if July would be ok since I would be comeing back to Pittsburgh to start my clinical pharmacy rotations, and they said that would be fine and to call them 2 weeks in advanced to set up my apointment.
So the week before I leave for vacation, which is 2 weeks before I want my apointment, I call and leave a voicemail with my florist telling her I want to set up my apointment. A week later, I am on vacation and still have not heard back from anyone. So I call back, and another day passes and still haven't heard from anyone. I call back again the next day... on my vacation, and finally later that day someone calls me back, but I miss the call because I am relaxing on a beach, not really answering my phone. So when I call back, I try to make the apointment with the receptionist and he says 'oh no, you can't make it for next week, it has to be 2 weeks from now.' Woah... no, he didn't just say that... So I say 'Well that's why I called over a week ago so that I could make this apointment but no one returned my calls, I can't come in 2 weeks from now, I'm leaving town and won't be back until November' so he says ok hold on, and I guess he talked to my florist and she ok'd it.
So then next week comes along, this is Wednesday July 19th... and me, my mom, my sis, and grandma are about to leave to see the sample and my phone rings, and it's the florist. Because of the storms and everything that morning they couldn't get my martini glass vase in for my CP so we couldn't do the sample! She kept apoligizing and asked if I could set up another apointment, and I said well as you know I'm leaving next week so it probably has to wait until November.
So then I'm out shopping later... kinda bummed since I was sooo excited to see my flowers, and I figured... I'm not doing anything tomorrow night, maybe I can call them and let them know that I'm free and if my vase comes in since they probably had all the flowers ready, they can do it for me tomorrow night, so I left her a voicemail letting her know that if the vase comes in and if she's available that I can come in the next night. Well I don't know if she just forgot, or what the hell happened... but the next day, when I was out at my make-up trial with Oksana, she calls me back and sounded like she had no idea of what I was talking about and was very rude and told me that I have to set up an appointment for a sample 2 weeks in advanced! I just figured for now I'd let this whole thing go, and I'm calling a month in advanced before I try to schedule my next sample... and if that doesn't go well then I'll seriously consider going elsewhere for my wedding!
But after that whole situation... I can honestly say that I don't think it's just brides that are bridezillas themselves, it's the people and vendors around them that make them that way! Because if people get worse than that closer to my wedding... I will just flip out!

She also said that she won't be ready to get it until like a month before the wedding. grrrrrrr
AHHHHHHHH - my sister/MOH is doing the same thing!!! She was SCREAMING at me the other day. She wants not only to pick the dress, but she wants a different dress, different color and different BoK!!!!!!! I got annoyed, but personally I don't even know if that was a bridezilla moment, I think it was a normal person responding to a MAIDZILLA!!!!!!!!

Nuh-uh... no way - have your girls pick out their dress (if you don't want to pick it out) and then YOU order hers... One of my BMs did that to me... I asked for her measurements over the phone, and I put the money down and ordered it right then and there. It's not what THEY want... it's all about YOU and your FH... I don't understand why people get so darn selfish when it's not about them!
I'm learning this new mantra:
Our wedding - our day - our way! (especially since we are paying)

Re: Bridezilla Moments
I actually had a bridezilla moment the other day, but it was in my head lol. FH and I were at mass and I started to freak silently because the banners behind the alter were forest green. I kept thinking, this will not go with my colors!!!!! I finally snapped out of it and said, who cares. I told FH about it and he thought I was psycho and he pointed out that the colors will be different in October.

AHHHHHHHHH yes I feel your pain. I knew I was gonna have my hands full the day I got engaged. My MOH (my sister), upon telling her I got engaged her first reaction was 'Ok Im wearing red' And when i told her I obviously hadn't thought of colors she told me she didnt care she was wearing red....NOWWWW shes gone to Davids Bridal and has announced shes picked out her dress. I havent even looked for mine or the BP dresses but shes got her picked.
Then, just to add insult to injury, she was talking about her wedding and how shes already picked her BP colors. So being slightly b**chy, I told her I didnt wanna wear that color, so she told me then I guess I wasnt gonna be in her BP!!!!! I haven't had a BZ moment yet, but man there is one seriously brewing..... ETA: MOH not even engaged yet...plans to plan my wedding as a warm up to hers.

Re: Bridezilla Moments
ooh i have a good one!!
i went for what was supposed to be my final dress fitting on tuesday, and it wasn't ready, so the seamstress did a couple of alterations and asked when i could come back. so i told her it had to be at night because i work, and she said, 'well it's easier if you come during the day.' so i told her that i understood that, but i couldn't take any more time off from work.
and she proceeded to tell me that if i felt that this was important then i would find the time!!
so i not-so-nicely told her that if she wanted to pay me to come in i would since i wasn't going to get paid if i didn't go to work!!
and then when i was taking the dress off, she asked my mother, again, if i could come in during the day.

Re: Bridezilla Moments
not many....but 1) i FLIPPED(both me & my mom) the day before the wedding when we went to get our nails done with the bridal party.... the woman doing my nails couldn't REALLY speak english..i specifically told her i wanted a french manicure, very dainty & not to long with a thin little stripe...i made the mistake at pointing to a picture on the wall that just so happened to be on the poster for the 'Permanent French' advertisement..... i had never gotten this before so i had no idea what she was doing. At the end not only did it NOT look at all what I wanted, but they wanted me to pay $95.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $95 for NAILS??? are u kidding me?!??!!!! i didnt even care what they looked like at that point...i wasn't paying that much money for my freakin' finger nails lol. they weren't understanding at all or would admit that it was a misunderstanding, so my mom said 'here's ur $40 for the reg. french that my daughter ASKED for.we're leaving'. lol and we walked out...yikes.needless to say i havent been back since lol.
and 2) at the reception, for some reason the DJ refused to announce that my viennese hour was coming out 'because the staff wanted to wait untill it was totally ready'...meanwhile, we cut the cake & he says 'ok folks, ur cake & coffee will be out shortly' ????? *** is the difference??? lol. So after about 4 guests came up & said they had to go, i asked him again for like the 4th time, but he said the same thing, so i just turned into the exoricist & said 'I'M THE BRIDE.I DON'T CARE WHAT THE STAFF SAYS..AND', and before i could finish, he grabbed the mic & said 'Alright folks, our lovely bride would like me to tell you that our 45yard venetian hour is on it's way out'.....i just smiled & walked away

Re: Bridezilla Moments
I love this thread!!
I switched our wedding date once from friday night to sunday day, then decided I still wanted it at night so I switched it again to sunday night. FH said if it will make me happy....
I just ordered my dress and I'm talking to my MOH about BM dresses. In an attempt to not be a bridezilla I say as long as the colors match I probably don't care if the dresses are the same. I want everyone to be happy. First she tells me the dresses have to match... so I'm thinking whatever if they choose to match I don't care. Then she tells me she wants a blue dress. I told her I didn't really want blue as a wedding color as the wedding is in the fall. So then she suggests periwinkle. So I didn't flip out or anything but it made me realize that even though I was saying I didn't care about details, I really did.
I had an appointment wiht a DJ. I took me 45 minutes to find the place because instead of giving me directions with landmarks I was told to go to the website. I get there 15 minutes late and guess what, the door is locked!!!! So when I get home I call up and tell them I made it to the appointment but no one was there. She's has an attitude by now and says well we're here. Well,, I'm at least 45 minutes away. She asks if I want to reschedule and I say no. She hung up on me in the middle of my sentence because I was going to say if you can't make it to the appointment, what will make me think you will show up the day of?
