bringing a 'date' to the wedding

So question - a good friend of mine recently moved back to england after a break-up with another of my friends . . she asked me if she could bring a friend of hers to the wedding and I am torn b/c we are not inviting any single folks with guests unless they are in long term relationships so I am afraid it will open a can of worms if we say yes but I REALLY appreciate that she is coming all the way from england for the wedding and her ex will also be there (without a date but still) so should I let her bring a date or should I just stick to no dates across the board?? and $ is the only issue here b/c otherwise I wouldn't care. .

TIA

I would say it is a special case and I would definitely want to make the exception. I wouldn't let other people in on your allowance and I would certainly hope that no one has the audacity to confront you about it at the wedding. If they ask later on you can explain.

IMO I would make the exception.

Thanks - that's what I was thinking. I was just worried everyone else would say - well why can't I bring someone but I just feel better letting her bring someone!!!!

My FH has been teaching me to ignore other people's opinions about our wedding and/or inputting their beliefs or questoning anything that we are doing. I'm sure no one will say anything and if they do tell them to MYOB. lol

If anyone else has a problem tell them that if they came across the world for the wedding they could have a date too!

umm. . .who this friend takes really is NOBODY else's business but yours and your friend in England's. NOBODY HAS ANY RIGHT TO QUESTION IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Let her bring whoever she wants as a guest (within reason, of course) and don't let anybody else outside of this situation let you say otherwise.

Ugh, people annoy me sometimes!!!!!!!

I would make and exception for her she is traveling from England...it is likely that no one will even notice.

I agree with everyone else...this is a special situation, and no one needs to know they're not a couple, right? Is the friend male, or female? Not that it even matters...I'm sure the other guests won't bat an eye or interrogate her as to who her guest is. I know if I was across the world and was invited to a wedding, I wouldn't want to make the trip by myself either.
