Re: Bringing newborn to public places...

My doc never said anything. I took Emma to Greenport (outside by the water) when she was 9 days old.

Re: Bringing newborn to public places...

My 1st born was born on Novemeber 30th and I did all my chrsitmas shopping within 2 weeks after at the mall. I just kept her covered and didn't let anyone get too close or touch her. My 2nd born was at the park with her big sis the day after she came home (she was 3 days old), just keep everyone away, Come up with a nice phrase to give people the message 'no touch!' My doctor said, the amount of traffic you have in and out of your house after the baby is born is probably more human contact than if you went to the mall all day long.

Since Tammy and I have the same doctor mine said the same thing. Actually he said that we could do what we want but if the baby gets a fever standard practice is to put her in the hospital, so he left it up to us.

Re: Bringing newborn to public places...

My Dr. (well one of them in the practice anyway) said 3 months! I asked him several times to be sure I was understanding him correctly. He even reminded me at the 2 month appt., no public places or large groups of people for another month because there were alot of viruses out there. This was July, I can't imagine what his instructions would be over winter.

I just couldn't stay in the house, I had the baby out as soon as I felt up to it. I think I was pretty careful about who went near the baby, no sickly visitors, etc

Re: Bringing newborn to public places...

My dr. said he could go for short stroller walks at 2 weeks and more public places at 4 weeks. I took him out way earlier than 4 weeks - he went to several parties and restaurants and to Grandma's several times. He has already taken 2 roadtrips to Rochester!

My doctor never said anything to me either. I took him out for the first time at 3 days old to my moms house.
We didnt really take him to public places like the mall until around 2 months.
