Re: Britax Car Seats

Hey, I'm the only vote!! We got the Roundabout and I can't remember why we chose it over the Marathon?

I have to think about it!! LOL

We're putting our seat in on Tues (going to have it inspected). Last night at the children's expo we put Sean in the Marathon and it was huge!! He looked like a king on his throne. He is SO going to love his new seat - he HATES his current 'baby' seat.

ETS: I was the only vote while I was typing my response!!

We bought the Roundabout b/c it is LATCH compatible up to a higher weight range than the Marathon. The Marathon is a much larger seat, but we felt that by the time Paul is big enough for such a large seat, we'd be switching from a carseat to a regular 'big kid' booster seat. JMO. I think they are both awesome seats, since they are the same manufacturer.

Claud... isn't the Marathon suitable for up to 65 pounds and the Roundabout 40 pounds?? I think they're both LATCH compatible, too... URGH I can't remember the details!!

Re: Britax Car Seats

Kathi I have the Marathon. Latch is compatable to 48lbs then after that you use the regular seat belt to the weight limit of 65lbs.

We bought the Marathon because Emma is tall and I wanted to give her as much room in the seat as possible.

They are GREAT seats!!!! Safest out there. Pricey yes but worth every penny.

Regarding the top weight for each seat - how long do kids have to be in a seat by law? At what age can you put them in a booster seat with the seat belt?

Re: Britax Car Seats

Ohhhh... thank you Karen!!

We're thinking of getting the Marathon soon for DH's car... also, since we're hoping for baby #2 next year, Sean could move into the Marathon when his little sister or brother needs the Roundabout.

Does that make sense?

MarathonTM

The Marathon is a Convertible Child Seat with LATCH that can be used rear facing for children 5 to 33 pounds and forward facing up to 65 pounds*. The child's height should be between 18 and 49 inches.

Product Features:

The Five-Point Polyester Harness, with strong no-tangle polyester webbing, fits snugly over the child's shoulders, collarbone and hips providing a more secure fit as your child grows. Versa-Tether™ is patented by Britax, for the most security in both forward and rear facing installations.
The Marathon now has modified EPS (Expanded PolyStyrene) foam insert to increase available shoulder width room. The Marathon already offers the widest width for any harnessed childseat up to 65 lbs. and the new optional insert will increase the shoulder room by another 1.5 inches.

The Patented 'Floating' HUGS System is designed to better distribute webbing loads to reduce head movement and minimize the chance for webbing edge loading on the child's neck in the case of an impact. In addition, it is designed to reduce the chance of improper positioning of the chest clip.
Built in Lock-Offs, both forward facing and rear facing, are designed for easy reach and operation when using traditional belt routing.
Four different shoulder harness positions will accommodate the taller child and the newly designed base allows for a more secure fit in most autos.
* Use vehicle seat belt (not LATCH connectors) for installations with children weighing more than 48 pounds (21 kg.). Refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for the maximum weight rating for their LATCH anchors.

Roundabout®

The Roundabout with LATCH is a convertible child seat. Rear facing, it fits Infants to Toddlers from 5 to 33 pounds and forward facing for children at least one year old from 20 to 40 pounds. The child's height should be between 27 and 40 inches. LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children.

Product Features:

For your convenience and safety, the Latch connectors on the Roundabout have been stored in the Latch storage area under the cover. To access the Latches, lift the cover off the seat from the bottom and you will find the recessed Latch storage area under the foam.
Versa-Tether™, patented by Britax to keep the seat from tilting forward or backward in the event of an impact.
Designed by Britax engineers, the Roundabout has Built-In Lock Off Clips, which are easy to reach and operate. Moms agree they are the best for easy installation! And they're built in so you won't lose them!
The Five-Point Harness, a must for your child's security and your convenience, has adjustable shoulder heights for a secure fit as your child grows.
EPS impact foam around the child's head and torso, plus the comfort foam in the seating area, make every ride comfortable for your child.
Removable, washable fabric cover.
Product Dimensions 25'H x 18.25'W x 23.5'D

Re: Britax Car Seats

We bought the Rounabout for the same reasons as Claud. I do not expect Annalise to need a carseat when she is in the 40-65 lb. range since she is very skinny. She will be in a booster seat or regular seatbelt by then (depending on her height).

Re: Britax Car Seats

we actually have the advantage by Britax... it is just like the roundabout -except it has an adjustable headrest . It is wonderful... You can mode the headrest up and down - which adjusts th straps to what the baby is wearing -- ie.. coat or shirt... We just love it .
