Jessica Simpson might have told the press that after three seasons, she and hubby Nick Lachey are done with their MTV Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica reality series, but leave it to MTV land an even bigger 'pop princess' to take her place. According to US Weekly, Britney Spears, the queen of the pop princesses herself, is now 'in talks' to take over the 'title role' on Jessica's Newlyweds series.
The 22-year-old Britney recently became engaged to 26-year-old backup dancer Kevin Federline, with the surprise engagement generating 'homewrecker' headlines and criticism from Federline's former girlfriend, actress Moesha actress Shar Jackson, who was eight months pregnant with Federline's second child at the time of the engagement announcement.
'She can't wreck a home by herself, but if you're a real woman and you find out someone you're seeing has extra baggage, you say, `Go home and take care of your business,'' Jackson told US Weekly at the time. 'If she and Kevin want to be a couple, then that's fine with me. But there are two little kids she better be prepared to babysit. They might be perfect for each other. You both smoke, you both drink and you both cheated on significant others after three years. You guys are made for each other. Have a good life.'
According to the magazine's latest report, Britney's interested in doing the MTV program because the superstar singer 'wants Kevin to be just as famous as she is.'
This isn't the first time that Britney has been said to be 'in talks' regarding a reality show of her own. Back in April, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Britney was shopping a reality show of her own, titled Ontourage, to various television networks. No broadcast deal was apparently ever struck however, and the European leg of the her 'Onyx Hotel' concert tour that the series would have documented came and went without any further news about the proposed series.

Exactly! Apparently Christina Aguilera was asked about it and she said something like 'I cannot believe that girl would buy her own engagement ring! And I saw it up close - it looks like it's from QVC.' She also said 'I know Britney and she's not trailer trash but she sure acts like it!'

That is so lame - I would never watch it!! Jessica and Nick are the true Newlyweds to me, and I just have no respect for Britney, I think she's such a skank! That's pretty sad that she's copying off them too. Big sign that her fame is slowly coming to an end, I think.....

I don't think she has any shame, I'm sure it's coming up somewhere on her list of 'priorities' All joking aside, I just hate the fact that she has so many young girls as fans - who would let their daughter listen to, let alone idolize that kind of person!?!?!? Too much...I thought of the carmen-dave 'till death do us part' (which I watched, don't get me wrong) as a second Newlyweds, so in my book, this will be sloppy 'thirds' She can't come up with her own ideas huh? Yeah, her star is falling fast...she trying to hold on as tight as she can.
I love Nick and Jessica (and it's a shame that Nick's career is on the rocks because I think he is more talented than Justin Timberlake). Britney is just trashy...this will be a flop!

I honestly love Newleyweds. And Jessica and Nick are such a BEAUTIFUL and cute couple. They really love each other. And I love watching them. I WILL NOT WATCH THAT SKANK BRITNEY. OK, some inside scoop here... I work for MTV and not only does she want to get Kevin exposure, but also was quite jealous of Ashlee and Jessica's recent albulm success. Brits newest CD bombed. Shes hoping a new show will help her new greatest hits CD take off.
And I think it will make great TV. The ratings will be spectacular (if they get married, and rumor here is they broke up this week at a photo shoot but I also heard they got back together after that.)

I honestly wouldn't be surprized if the ratings were amazing - as much as we hate certain celebrities, 9 times out of 10, you'll tune in anyway - JUST to see how bad it is Personally, I woudn't watch it - but it's like all the peeps who complain about how horrible Howard Stern is, then tune in to listen to his show! So from the business perspective, I guess I can see where show is coming from - I just cannot stand her, so the thought of her having her own show just makes me ill.
My random thought - there's something scary about a 22 year old pop star who already has a 'greatest hits' album, anyone agree??

I know I am going to get blasted here and I am prepared for it; I like Britney. (her shows are amazing, I know a lot of you will say she doesn't even sing live but a lot of performers dont I'm talking about the show overall) I don't agree with all that she does however I feel she is just doing the things that normal girls her age do. Other girls her age drink and smoke.
I agree her 55 hour marriage was stupid and maybe this engagment won't work out but maybe it will.
I don't know I think that people who don't know her personally (not saying I do) shoulnd't bash her because I just don't think its fair to do that to her or any other celeb for that matter.
She is growing up and making mistakes unfortunately because she is in the lime light all of her mistakes are public domain, I can only say thank god mine didn't have to be cause I could imagine what everyone would be saying about me. Can't any of you think of something you did tht you would be embarassed of now when you were younger?
