i fell last night and ended up in the ER at NYU till 5:30am. broke and dislocated my right wrist. and im a righty!!

dr said i may need surgery. i am terrified at the thought. any of you ever have surgery? am i being a big baby?

im so upset.

I am so sorry to hear that!!!!
What kind of surgery? To repair a bone fracture?
The weirdest this is that it itches when it's healing and you may feel it when the weather changes. As for the surgery itself - it's no biggie - you're drugged up good, so you have no idea what's happening. The hardest part is the injury itself, and you've already done that part!!! FEEL BETTER!!!!!

I broke my ankle 2 years ago. I had surgery, and have a plate and screws in my ankle permanently. For me it wasn't a choice -- I was taken by ambulance, and it was so shattered it had to be done. See an orthopedic specialist, and if he recommends it, I wouldn't hesitate. Good luck! You will be OK.

Aww I feel your pain! I have broken many bones in my lifetime and I'm only 26! I have broken my leg, arm, sprains and two black eyes, not at the same time though. I've had a few surgeries myself and do not feel like a baby it is scary. But like everyone else said you will be asleep the whole time and you wake up and it's ok. I have never had a reaction to the anesthesia but I heard that can be bad sometimes, only because it makes you sick sometimes. I feel bad that you broke your right wrist and you are a righty, I always got lucky and broke my left stuff! When will you find out if you need the surgery or not? I hope not! Happy healing!

Oh my gosh!! I hope your feeling better!! I actually just had surgery on Friday. I was a little nervous going in. But if you get anesthesia you dont have any clue whats going on so its not bad at all. FM me if you need a boost of confidence.

that happened to my mom a few yrs ago. i know it must have been incredibly painful!!
