I went to johnny utahs last night for my sisters birthday. I rode the mechanical bull...enjoyed it so much I went on a second time. When I got bucked off the second time I fell in a way that I heard something make a cracking / crunching noise. It was my knee...I can barely bend it at all, its swollen and it hurts like hell to walk on.
what ***** even more is that I have to work today and 2morrow...next day off isn't until friday.

You should definitely go to the ER for an x-ray. Broken/sprained knees are nothing to mess around with.

I'm just scared about the $$. I have medical coverage but I'm not sure how much and the last thing i need is another budget breaker. I was going to try to ice it today and tomm since its a holiday wknd and then go to doc on tues. Guess that might be too long to hold off.

I have never broken anything so im not sure how long you have but i slammed my knee into a wall back in grade school and never had it looked at.. And to this day i still have problems with it. I hate to know whats gonna happen when im old.. FH makes fun of me cause it kills me going up long flights of stairs now. I keep debating going to get an x-ray or catscan done.. but i cant be out of work even if i need surgery to correct it cause im saving time for the wedding.

Re: broken cowgirl
crackin and crunchin usually needs more than some ice....you should really get to the dr....the more you walk around on it the worse you will make it and the more money it will cost you in the long run.....seriously...my friends mom did that and landed herself in a wheel chair for months.....PLEASE GO TO THE ER!!! Don't make us 08'ers come drag you there!

Re: broken cowgirl
That's terrible! Is it swollen?? Have you put ice on it? I would recommend putting your leg up on some pillows and ice for 15 minutes at a time! At least while you can't get to the doctor that should help. Feel better!
Sorry for asking a bazillion questions haha.

Why are you worrying about the $$? Go to the Dr. and get fixed. If you wait too long it may cost you more to have your self fixed. And you don't want to be hobbling down the isle. Broken bones are not something that can wait to get fixed!

Re: broken cowgirl
Okay, here is story time-
You cannot mess around with your health, and here is why I learned this: I got what I originally thought (this was May) was pinkeye-decided to treat it myself. I went to a Dr. who didn't do eyes-he told me allergies. Well, It came back a few times. Now we are in July, where I am told maybe it is viral conjunctivitis-I got some more drops and went on my merry way. Well, my rheumatologist (i was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 18), said I was nuts for not treating it and asked to see me. He told me (this was now late July and after going to find vendors while my eye was throbbingly painful and my vision was randomly dimming and blurring that I needed to see a specialist in eyes, particularly autoimmune...well, I wanted to put it off, but I was forced by FH to make the appointment-low and behold! I have an inflammation of my inner eye (its getting a lot better now) related to the arthritis, and best part? It causes blindness! My vision already went to 20/30 with glasses from non-treatment! I just had to reschedule my fitting because I needed to go back to the dr AGAIN, but as he said-would you rather have problems for your wedding day? (Mine is likely to reoccur and can get worse if not monitored.)
So,moral of the story? The longer you wait, the worse it can be. You can't see in, so you don't know what damage was done...maybe it was really nothing, but if you mess with it, you can cause permanent damage!
GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

I understand the money thing...believe me... But if you have insurance, you will likely only have to make a copayment in a week or so AFTER you go....so GO...
Second...if you can bend it and put weight on it - it's not broken. The sound you heard was likely a tendon tearing. I had this happen to my ankle a few years ago and to this day i can still remember that sound i heard - like a branch breaking...the doc told me that was the sound of the tendon going bye bye.
Please get it checked out as soon as you possibly can. FH is in retail and this weekend is mandatory for him too - but your health is WAY more important than your job. You have to think about yourself in the future. Do you want to live with a limp????

It is swollen a good deal and I can't really bend it past a few inches or straighten it all the way because of the swelling. I'm limping everywhere and it really hurts if i put too much weight on it or turn it sideways. I called aetna and it sounds like my plan is judt $75 copay for emergency visit. I think I am going to elevate it and ice it tonight and take flexoral and I think I'm headed to the hospital tommorow.
