I think you can take the subway there as well, like the B or the D, if you are a subway person. I've never been there but would like to go this summer. Do they still have the baby animals? I used to see the ads in the subway and they were so cute!

I havent been there in a while, but from what I remember Wednesdays are Free, enter by donation. (leave it to me to remember the freebies! I dont know if thats still the same now, im talking over 5 years ago).

I'm not 100% sure how to get there either, although I've passed signs for it on Pelham Parkway several times going to my DHs house.

Hopefully I'll get to go once I move in up there. I heard it was nice, though. They've made some changes.

Yes it si still free on Wednesdays, but I wouldn't recommend it, the place is swarming with people. I would recommend a day where you have to pay. It is worth it.

DEFINITELY don't go on a Wednesday - its not that expensive to get in anyway!

I hate to say it, but on Wednesdays, every inner city summer camp uses it as a free field trip - you can't even move in there.

I went on a Wed and it was empty, we had the whole place to ourselves. It wasnt summer though. It was during the school year.
Totally empty. so it totally depends on when you go. Im sure you can go on ANY day in the summer and it will jam packed.
