Brown BM Dress - GM in _____?????

For all you brides with BM's in Brown dresses... what color are you putting the guys in??

I ordered chocolate brown for the girls dresses but lots with brown vary soooooooooooooooo much that I feel like pairing it up with another designers brown might clash??!?!

Can the guys be in black?? What color vests?

I thought putting brown and black together was a faux paux.

The flowers are going to be very colorful and vibrant and i don't want too much going on. It's got to look sharp!

HELP!

THis question comes up a lot and I've seena alot of photos with the girls in brown and the guys in traditional black tuxes and they look fine. Then a lot of girls will make the vests gold or champagne colored so it coordinates but doesn't match, KWIM? It's totally doable and looks great.

My GM wore espresso brown tuxes and brown vests with striped ties (browns and champagne). It looked really good the colors did not match but everything went together really well. Only a few designers make brown tuxes from what I found- Calvin Klein and Joseph Abboud were the two that DH tried on we went with the Joseph Abboud tux we liked the color better with the BM dress.

I did not like the look of brown tuxes at all! I chose a black tux with an espresso vest and I think it looked best. You can see pictures in my review.

My girls wore a chocolate brown for my wedding and the guys wore a black tux with a champagne colored vest and tie...I was also nervous about the combination but it looked great together!

I thought the same thing about black and brown and was set on a brown tux. But when i went and saw the brown it was an off color brown from the girls and it really didnt look good. We ended up getting black tuxes wiht chocolate brown vest and tie and it looks really good together. We also got ivory shirts because my dress is ivory and i dont want anyone in my pictures wearing white

This is a really good question, and it's nice that you are really thinking about the details of the guys' outfits. You want them to look sharp too!

First off, you cannot do a brown 'tux', since there is no such thing.

I completely agree with the OP that it is a bad idea to do a brown suit. First, brown is really one of the few colors on guys that isn't suitable for an evening affair, and especially a formal evening affair. Second, you are absolutely correct in that the shades will probably be slightly off, and that won't look good at all.

Also, I would steer away from mixing blacks and any shades of brown. It's really not a good color combo. For example, would you ever see a guy in a black suit with brown shoes?

There are two great suggestions in this thread already. The traditional black tuxedo (in all black and white) and the gray suit provide the best options. Though for a gray suit I would go darker than the picture posted (i.e. more of a medium gray or, the best option, charcoal).

If you choose the gray suit, I wouldn't do a brown tie. I'd pick a more complimentary color, such as gold, orange, rust, red, etc. And make sure the guys shoes are black.

I'm happy to point you in the direction of some good gray suits at good prices if you need it. Good luck!

I did 'mink' brown dresses for the girls and black tuxes for the guys.

They wore black tuxes, black vests and brown on black ties. It looked awesome!

DH wore black tux, ivory vest, white on ivory tie.

Dads wore black tux, black vests, black on black ties.

This is definately something that I am looking for. The flowers I want are very vibrant colors like you had but with a lot more greens to make it a hint more lush!
Thank thank you for this.. I feel much better about it now.
