Does anyone else feel obligated to provide a brunch at the hotel on the Sunday after the wedding?
Most people think it's a nice touch but I feel that it's a necessity and can't convince my parents or my FI that we should host one.
We have a lot of out of towners. I feel rude if we don't.....

Re: Brunch
We are feeling somewhat obligated, especially since our wedding is at a hotel, we have a large number staying there. I haven't started looking into it yet.
We just went to a wedding over the weekend where they had a brunch but, although we stayed at the hotel, we didn't know about it until my FH saw it when he was in the lobby on an event sign. That was a little weird. Then again though, the whole experience was a little weird (too many people in too small of a venue, blocking rooms at a hotel under renovations-the renovations began sunday in the room above us at 7:30). I think it's put me more back in the wedding mood since I have a huge list now of what I am not going to do! That and it's slow for the holidays at work.

Re: Brunch
I don't feel obligated, but it is something we knew we would do. A lot of hotels offer breakfast, look into that! It's really not neccessary though. I went to my cousins wedding upstate, and EVERYONE was from out of town (It was at the brides family's vacation home in Windham). They didn't have brunch, and I didn't expect it! The hotel had continental breakfast out, which was very nice!

Re: Brunch
I wanted to do a brunch, but since FI and are paying for the whole wedding, we decided against it. I would rather spend the extra $1,000 on our honeymoon. I am hoping that FILs will have something since they insisted we invite 50 people from Ireland.

Re: Brunch
I went back and forth with this and ultimately decided to do it. Mainly because I'd like to see our of OOTers the next day to catch up some more and I know I'll want to chow down at the buffet!

Re: Brunch
I am doing it. I actually worked out a preety sweet deal with the hotel I have everyone staying at. Do an open house brunch from 10-noon Maybe have bagels and juice and coffee at your parents house?

Re: Brunch
Since we are not doing an an actual rehearsal, we asked FH's parents if they would rather do a dinner the night before the wedding, or a brunch the day after, since all of their guests are OOT. They said they wanted to do the night before. As much as a brunch would be nice, there is no way we can afford to do this. If some people want to meet in the restaurant in the hotel for breakfast, thats fine, but we just cannot pay for it.

May I ask what hotel your guests are staying at? I am not having too much luck at the Hilton...

Re: Brunch
Our guests are getting breakfast...there is just no way we would be able to pay for brunch the next day...I would LOVE to but we can't cram it into our budget...so if a cup of coffee and a danish doesn't satisfy them...they can go scratch...

I'm doing it at the Hilton, but I think their prices are pretty set, you know? FM if you want pricing info.

Re: Brunch
You are NOT obligated!! Out OOT guests are at the Wingate in Garden City (LOVE them so far!) and I will be there the night before and FH and I will spend the wedding night there. Since we will all be in the same place I think we will do it. It's $500 and they set up the meeting room for it. I think it's nice to spend as much time with the OOT guests as possible as they traveled for your big day.
For my BM wedding in PA she and her DH attened the after party her mom threw (her mom lives in NJ) and they went home that night. We all grabbed b-fast in the hotel the next day as we could and it was fine. They had a night before dinner with the OOT guests tho.
Do what you can and don't feel bad!!

Re: Brunch
Don't feel obligated but we are planning on doing a little brunch back at our house the morning after! We have tons of family from OOT & we want to spend some more time with them before they all head back!
