Brunch Question

Brunch Question

My close family/friends are staying at the reception hall for the night of the wedding. Other guests that may need to stay over will be at the Hilton. The reception hall offers breakfast from 8-10 on Sunday for any sleepover people. This is my question - do I have to have a brunch? NOBODY is from LI - everybody is coming from NJ and NYC which is around 45 minutes, and maybe 4 from other states. I really don't want the brunch because of the expense. I can't afford another 150 person affair. And I feel like if there IS one, people will stay for it. Is it rude though? I mean - they can have breakfast at the hotel before they leave if they decide to stay. I just don't want to seem rude in any way with this.

Re: Brunch Question

A post wedding brunch is not mandatory and imo not expected.

Re: Brunch Question

I agree, I would love to host (aka pay for) a brunch the next day but that is totally impossible. We are paying for 99.9% of this wedding and there is no way we can pay for a party day 2.
THose full weekend weddings are great if you can afford it. We just cannot.

Re: Brunch Question

I was just thinking the same thing - it's a nice idea, but we can't pay for anymore than we already are- and the prices we've been quoted, it would be around the same price as the rehearsal dinner!

We might just play it by ear and depending on who stays at the hotel, maybe just us and the BP can go out somewhere.....

Re: Brunch Question

Jenny...soak up all of Oheka that you can...my mother joked when we were looking at it and said...she would get there at 12 noon and would not leave until 11:59 the next day lol

my mother is hosting the brunch for us, only b/c SHE is staying at the hotel (they live 20 min away, but want a room) and our hotel guests will be small...probably 20-30 people there...

IF you want, you could ask someone to host bagels and coffee afterwards (but I don't think you have to)...my mother has stopped having family over for dinner (too much work) and instead haves people over for bagels and brunch...

If you are interested...

Re: Brunch Question

We did something similiar to what Yabbobay mentioned - my parents hosted a brunch at their house the next day and invited all out of town guests. They kept it simple - coffee, bagles, smoked salmon (costco), quiche, scrambled eggs, muffins, mimosas, etc and it wasn't very expensive.

Even though we had a lot of out of town guests - they didn't all come to brunch. Some wanted to hit the road early, others had flights to catch or other people to visit.

But this is a nice plus - its not mandatory by any means. I have to say it was great to have though. I got to spend more quality time with more guests without the pressures of the wedding. It was a great ending to the whole weekend.
