My FH and I are looking to save some money and thought about doing an early ceremony followed by a brunch reception. Has anyone ever been to a weeding that did this is planning/had a brunch reception? Would be interested to know how you liked it, where it was held etc. Thanks!!

Re: Brunch Reception
i suppose it depends how early you're thinking .... my ceremony started at 11:30am with CH from noon - 1pm and reception 1-5pm ... it was fine though we did have some obnoxious guests complaining about the time (and some RSVPed 'no' because it was too early ) .... but otherwise, we were happy to have a daytime wedding (i like the daytime & light and am not at all a night-time person) and save the money

I can't believe people complained about this!!! Sometimes they need to realize this day is to celebrate the fact you are getting MARRIED!! Doesn't matter what time!

Re: Brunch Reception
The wealthier the people the less food they give you. Read any society pages and you'll see this. There is nothing wrong with brunch or lunch. I'm doing Sunday sot down lunch which is the same menu as someone having a Saturday night black tie event minus a few things. Your day is about you, not your guests. Anyone who would complain about the time of day (especially when it's early) is a boob

Re: Brunch Reception
Also another tip to save some money with the food is try another month during the year. September & October are the most popular & expensive months. So maybe if you picked another month that could help also
