BTDT Breastfeeding Moms

My son is 11 weeks old and I have been EBF. I was just curious, is there a point where I will stop getting close to engorged when a long time goes by in between feedings (this usually happens at night when he sleeps longer than 6 hours).

THANKS!

Yes. I know, it seems hard to believe, but eventually your production will even out. There were days I soaked through many pads and at night, I use to have to sleep on a pad because I leaked so much. Now, I don't have to worry much at all. I can't remember when it slowed down...maybe 4-5 monthes when she started eating food?

I think that slowed down for me at about 3 months. I knew I would be returning to work at 6 weeks, so for that time that I was off, when I got up to pee in the middle of the night I would actually pump so that I would have extra milk to freeze. I think some people disagree with that, but it worked for me, because now that I am working I am making less milk and I am so glad I have all that extra milk in the freezer. She is 20 weeks tomorrow, and right now I wake up in the am not engorged at all. Kudo's to you for breastfeeding!

Pumping in the middle of the night can often be a great way to get milk to freeze.

I only pumped....but I always KNEW when it was time to pump...my breasts told me plain as day...I think that at every phase of breastfeeding your body as to adjust so it does lessen but you always know when your milk needs to come out.
