BTDT moms................

BTDT moms................

Ok, as I get closer to my EDD, I am suddenly feeling very lost as to what to expect in the upcoming weeks. What were your signs that it was time? Was it all about the contractions being 5 minutes apart or did your water break and it was very obvious?
GRRRR!! I took Lamaze back in January and now its not as fresh in my mind.

Don't worry... YOU WILL DO JUST FINE! I had BHs the day I went into labor. Nothing that was in intervals. Then when I was in labor the contractions felt different and were all 8 minutes apart. Then I passed my plug and knew it was time. Surprisingly I was extremely calm. FMIL was more nervous than I was. The broke my water in the hospital so I didnt have to worry about that.

Just relax and enjoy your time as a mommy to be.

I just worry that my water will trickle out while I'm in the shower or something and then I won't even know.

If your water breaks and is a small trickle, you may not notice at first. What will alert you is when it does not stop. Once it breaks it does not stop until the baby moves down far enough to block the opening (usually the pushing stage). Even if it is trickling, it will keep trickling. If you think your water has broken you should try this tip that helped me. Sit on the toilet and completely empty your bladder. Then cough and see if it causes a drip. If you can cause it to keep dripping, then it is your bag of water. Eventually your contractions will be coming in intervals unless you are having back labor. I lost my mucus plug 2 weeks before I delivered. Since it can regenerate this is not a guarantee that labor will soon begin. Bloody show is a good sign to look for. I think labor usually begins in 24-48 hours. You may have only 1 or as many as all the signs you learned in Lamaze.

This is what happened to me but dont worry, you will know because it will continue to trickle.

I think Karen said it well, you will be fine. What you are feeling is so normal as you come into the homestretch. Every pregnancy is different. They talk in the Childbirth classes about timing contractions and how when you are in real labor they are very regular - not me, mine were irregular right from the get go - but I was in labor. Just keep the faith that you will just know. Everything will work out great.

This is very helpful! I was wondering the same thing myself.
