For all you homeowners (or just thinking of one) do you think the housemarket price will go down? Or is it good right now?

Re: Bubble market? House market question?
I have been following the market several months now because I am trying to find a home. It seems that the house prices are starting to come down a bit, although it is barely perceptible at this point. I'm hoping they will continue to come down as the spring/summer months arrive, but I don't think they will come down considerably.

Re: Bubble market? House market question?
I've been watching only online for awhile now (suppose to start looking for real next month) and haven't seen much of a change. My co-worker who has been actively looking since before the summer said he did see a slight dip in price and he found something (is in the closing process now).

I have been looking since August!! and honestly they soared in the past few months and just recently have been dropping but not drastically. I doubt they will decrease much more. It's been pretty stable for the most part.

Starter homes are always going to be in demand too, especially with the low interest rates.

Re: Bubble market? House market question?
My FH and I just went to contract with a house we are purchasing. We have been looking for a really long time, and the market has been pretty bad. We feel that the market won't go up much or down, and will stay where it is.

Re: Bubble market? House market question?
Irenie, we battled with this question before we bought in November. I think it depends on the area, but LI houses are few and far between ... the supply and demand factor! But don't give up hope ... no one can predict the economy and the housing market. I personally don't think they will go down considerably. Probably stabilize because interest is so low. Do you know a RE broker that can maybe shed some light on what they are seeing.
Also ... check out these threads. We've discussed this before! Good Luck!
We are closing on a house on Feb 5th. We went to contract in early December. Since that time, someone bought the house across from us and paid 10K more. I do not think the market is going down nor is it stabalizing, I think it is still going up.

So many different answers I think I'm more confused lol! Can anyone recommend a good real estate broker or good book? I have so many questions and am so clueless.
Actually just out of curiosity...for those of you looking for a house...which areas are you looking in?

Re: Bubble market? House market question?
I'm not sure what your timeline is for looking, but I would also add that there tends to be a slight seasonal change in prices. Basically, more people are looking to buy in the Spring -- especially families who don't want to interupt school years.
