The head line says it all. My fiance and I have been together for almost 7 years. We got engaged this year, Valentine's day. As far as I know, he plans on paying for the whole wedding. But, he does not make much to begin with. I am trying to finish my Bachelors Degree in English and education, which will force me to take a semester to teach, but I won't be getting paid for it. To make a long story short, I would like some help in choosing cost effecient vendors for the wedding, as far as limo, flowers, tux rental and bridal store. I plan on making my own invitations and programs. As far as a location, I'm thinking Coral House in LI. Can anybody give me some reviews on the place and cost estimates there? I would really appreciate it. Trust me, I need all the help I can get!
I haven't really laid out a budget because we haven't even begun saving, but I'd really like everything under 10k.

Re: Budget Bride
you can also save some money by having your wedding in an off-month, (jan-march), a wedding during the day, or a thurs night wedding can save you a lot as well. also, if you get married at the RH, it will eliminate the need for limos. You can nix the flower cp's like someone above said and go with candles, or something you can DIY. good luck!

Re: Budget Bride
the above brides made some good points about the time of year and time of day.
also when it comes to vendors you should really know what you want most and what you can cut back on. for instance, if you want a crazy photo package then get a minimum dj package (you dont need all the lights and tvs and give aways). also you can cut back on flowers...get smaller bo-k's, pick flowers that are in season. use decorations that you can use at the ceremony and then be moved to your RH instead of getting another CP for your dais table. also consider not doing the bouts for the guys.
plus there are tons of DIY's you can do that will still leave your wedding full of personal touches without breaking the bank

Re: Budget Bride
my uncles wedding was at the coral house about 15 years ago. i was only 8 but i remember it being great. the view there is really nice.
To save money FH and i arent using limos, we are having our ceremony at the reception hall so there is no need really.

Re: Budget Bride
everyone makes some good suggestions! Here's some..with photography..you can make your own albums-this will help with the cost a lot. Also, the non flower centerpeices are a great idea. With the dj-you dont have to get all the add ons. My cousin used an ipod during the ceremony for the procession/recessional-they just had a friend who knew how to work one play the songs they wanted. For the reception hall, you could limit a full open bar to a beer/soda/and wine bar to help with cost as well. Alot of sores have sample sales for dresses...try davids bridal-they always have sales and they have great prices. HTH!

Re: Budget Bride
I know you might be set on the Coral House but there are rh's that offer packages that include everything - Brentwood Country Club & Mediterrean Manor are some.
Also, their are vendors who do everything from flowers to limos - The Wedding Center in Commack is one.

Re: Budget Bride
There are some halls that offer a comprehensive package for 100 people for around 10,000 if you would want to look into some of those
The ones I know of are
Brentwood Country Club Ariana Waterfall Mediterranean manor Holiday Inn Plainview.
Or check with some of the all included companies like Wedding World, where for 5k you get photo, video, limos, DJ, invitations, and personal flowers, Centerpieces are extra

Re: Budget Bride
I've heard the Brentwood Country Club is really nice and has GREAT wedding packages with just about everything included for like under 10k. You could also look into doing a day wedding, a wedding on a Sunday, or a wedding in the winter off months like Jan-March. I've already saved a lot of $$ by doing a ton of DIYs. I know I also got a packet of papers in the mail that the wedding center in commack has various packages covering all you'll need in all different price brackets. Good luck!!!

Re: Budget Bride
The two lowest priced halls that I had seen were Coral House (i think they qouted me $65/pp for Sunday night) & Verdis of Westbury (Mon to Thurs $52/pp, $72/pp Sat, $62/pp Sunday).
I also saw the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside that had buffet packe for $45/pp and2 sit down packages (one was in the $60 range and the other $70 range)
As far as bridal gowns, I went to David's Bridal in Westbury and was able to get my gown, tiara & veil... all together for $900.
Hope that's helpful I'm working on a bit of a budget myself.
