Hello ladies.... Ok... My Fiancee and I even though we just got engaged, we have been thinking about budget for the Wedding... We live in Long Island, NY... But we are in a tight budget... ( i think... I mean we got time to save money but so far this is what we got in mind)
Do you think (seriously) We are able to pull out a Great/Elegant wedding with a $7,000 budget ????
Thanks!!!!

You have so much time, I think you *might* be able to pull together something for this price. Have you thought about approximately how many people you are considering inviting? If you're talking around 50 people and would consider doing it somewhere like at a restaurant or large mult-room facility where you could get a really good price pp, it's definitely doable.
If you're considering having 200 people, I don't think it would be possible.
I have a friend in NC who is trying to work on her $5k budget right now for this october. It's not easy, but we've come up with tons of options, and in a way it's really exciting to help her pull it together! Feel free to FM me if you want to talk more about ways we're looking at saving money for her.
In NY, I really feel like one of the only ways to throw a wedding reception for under $10k is going to be either to do it at a restaurant or finding a way to make food / catering less than $50 pp. And, of course, it depends on how many people.
Good luck with your planning! Don't forget about the possibility of purchasing a dress on craig's list or ebay or even a consignment shop (I got mine on CL for $150 and I loved it!!). Dresses can be anywhere from $500-$15000 so that's a major way to save, too.

Re: Budget? Help Please!
I would suggest a winter wedding. Prices are much cheaper in January and Feb. It also depends on if you want a catering hall or a restaurant. If it is a small wedding maybe renting out a restaurant for an afternoon would work.
Or you could always use a KoC or VFW. There are really nice KoC in Baldwin that does weddings.
Or do a destination wedding!!!! My best friend just got married in August on a Carnival cruise and the whole thing soup to nuts cost her around 5!!!

$7k for a 50 person wedding I think is DEFINITELY doable! And you will have the wedding of your DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take your time planning. The best thing about locking in a place soon is that you may be able to lock in current prices, which could be great for budgeting.
A lot of hotels also have spaces for weddings and since they have multiple conference rooms that can be converted into ballrooms, they can usually be a little less expensive than a single wedding reception hall. So that might be looking into as well. Your DJ can help with the atmosphere being really wedding-like, and you have tons of time to work on DIYs like CPs that are really fancy and extravagant without being too $$$$.
I'm excited for you! You have great stuff ahead!

Restraunts that do weddings are a great idea. Sundays or Thursday will help save. I know i went to a small wedding at Dominicos in Levittown. The front of it is a italian restraunt with awesome food but they have rooms and do partys you can get meals for like 50-60 a person or less depending on drinks and food option. Hard thing will be Djs photog and stuff like that. There is def ways to do it.

I agree w/ the above suggestions, it is definitely do-able and you can also save $$ by doing DYI things like your own invitations, menus, favors..and asking family or close friends who are DJs or photographers to give you steep discounts.
Here are some threads that can give you an idea of what vendors charge for weddings...and again, congrats and welcome!!

There is another thread called reception hall price per person. I will bump it for you. EDITED TO ADD: That budget might be a bit tight, but it also depends if you eliminate some things. For example, if you don't have limos or a videographer and DIY your flowers/invites that will dramatically drop the price. You can also get a beautiful dress for a low price at David's bridal and there are definitely photographers that will work with your budget.
