After thinking that we did such a good job of picking good quality vendors at reasonable prices, my budget calculator states a different story. Has anyone else experienced this? Have you increased your budget to accomodate? I don't want to, but UGH!

Re: Budget Issues!!
Yes,and unfortunately we increased it. But I that is more because we didn't have realistic guestimates for some of our vendors in the beginning. Ex. we budgetted $700 for flowers and $900 for transportation. Now we know that we have to increase our flowers budget, but we're still kinding of hoping to meet our transportation budget and cut back on other things. I do feel good about saving $800 on my dress though. :)
I think now that I am used to negotiating I will do a better job at it with my future vendors.

We increased it too! We felt that there wasn't enough money for the things we really wanted. I feel the wedding took on a life of its own.

Re: Budget Issues!!
I am finding I did not budget well. I under budgeted on my photographer and I know I am under budgeted on my flowers. So I readjusted the numbers and seem to be closer with more 'realistic' expectations.

I'm findiong as I get closer to the wedding 'little' things are popping up that I didn't budget for ... they are not HUGE ticket items but added together they are becoming a pain in the @$$! I was really doing well until now

I increased our budget already once, and I refuse to do it again! It realy gets frustrating. I know it will be the best day though.

oh yeah, the 'little things' really add up as you get closer to the wedding. you can cut back on certain things. i refused to pay alot for my veil and tiara, so i got them both at tri-county for $117 and you would never know it!

Re: Budget Issues!!
I thought I was doing a good job as well- especially when I use 'the knot' budget calculator and I am not even using some of the options on there (ie- my grandmother bought my dress, etc) but even with those options taken off, I am still over budget! It is very frustrating!
For some reason, I keep thinking that money will just 'come UP' before then- but more than likely I will be getting a second job soon.... blah

Re: Budget Issues!!
I think everyone goes over budget. I was a little unrealistic about things also. But now I know I am not allowed to go any higher. I am trying to save on my veil and headpiece and the little things.

Yes, we're in the exact same situation. I think we're almost $10K over budget at this point!!! Ugh!

Re: Budget Issues!!
We run under AND over, depending on the thing we need. I over budgeted for DJ, under-budgeted for officiant, and right on track for my gown, veil and accessories. The thing that is hitting a little hard right now is hair and makeup- i want to have two trials each, and that adds up, plus I will have to spend a little for LIRR tickets, for the vendors who don't come to me for trials.
