buffet or sit down dinner?

buffet or sit down dinner?

Its less expensive if we do a buffet, but I've always liked the idea of a sit down dinner. What is the overall opinion?

usually weddings are sit down. but, do what you want and what you can afford. I have actually seen some buffet's cost more than a plated meal. I personally as a guest don't mind either and I think most people are like that. GL!

We wanted a buffet because we're alllllll about the food! And OMG the food was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People are still talking about the incredible food from our wedding 5 months later!

It was definitely not less expensive for a buffet (and it certainly didn't appear any less expensive the way our RH did it -- they went all out!). But it was an incredible wedding where the food was totally featured.

You have to do what you like.

It depends on what you're looking for. I find that buffets are not always less expensive and can be more expensive at some venues. But they are great. I've been to two weddings that served buffet... it offers a freedom for your guests to control portion size, what they want on their plate and to eat when they are hungry.

I prefer sit down bc at buffets there tend to be lines.

if you plan on having more then 100 people at your wedding i would say have a sit down so there won't be lines for food

It depends. For a wedding, I wanted somethig a little more formal so we chose a sit down. For my engagment party we had a buffet and I was very happy.

i chose a buffet (stations, actually, but it's pretty much the same thing)...even though they were both the same price....but that was just our choice because i LOVE the idea of not making the guests choose between the entrees....plus fh and i love all different types of food, so we wanted to reflect that....we're having a thai/vietnamese station, a mediterranean station, and an italian station. for us, that made more sense. but i think if you'd prefer to have a sit-down dinner, go for it!!!!

I went to a wedding a few years ago that was a buffet & it was fine..the line moved fast no one had a problem. I wanted to to that also to cut cost but at our venue it didn't make a difference in price so naturally I went with the sit down.

I have been to both sitdown and buffet receptions and I think it really depends on what you want. If its more budget friendly to do a buffet, then go for it. On the other hand if you always wanted a sitdown, then I would go for that....Good luck!!

at our RH the buffet is the same price...

Tough call. The idea of people walking around with plates of food all dressed up makes me a little nervous. However, the idea of not making people make a clear-cut choice between a few options for entree is appealing.

We had a buffet, which I think cost more the a sit down because we had SO many different dishes that I don't think there was something for everyone. We preferred it because you can eat when you want, what ever you want & how much you want. It really worked out perfect.

I prefer sit down only because our cocktail hour has so much food. It we weren't having a full buffet cocktail hour just apps and drinks then I would def do buffet. I love options.

I prefer the sit down because it is more formal. I personally am just not a fan of buffets in general.
