I prefer sit down. The CH is buffet style, so that was enough for me! People were able to eat all they wanted during CH and then have a formal sit down dinner for the reception!

I've been to weddigs that were buffet and sit down. I think either one is a good option, it just depends on the feel you are going for during the reception.

ithink buffet food can be really nice but i always wanted a sit-down.... CH is buffet... so to go from one buffet hour to a buffet dinner im not loving that idea...

we had the same question and we ended up doing the sit down. I kind of wished we did the buffet cause it would have been all the cocktail hour food (all our guests raved about cocktail hour) and our wedding was in the early afternoon so it would have been appropriate, since its not really dinner.

My friend had a buffet and she spent just about the same amount I'm spending on my sit down dinner. This didn't include a cocktail hour for her as mine does. So I feel that I'm getting more for my buck.
It worked out nicely for her since she only had about 70 guests, so the lines moved quickly and we had plenty of time for dancing. Any more than a 100 and it might get a bit tedious for people to wait on a long line for food, and have less time for dancing.

I like buffets for other events; after the buffet style CH it seems a little redundant to me.

I prefer sit down dinner. The idea of waiting on line is not very appealing to me, but thats personal preference, do whatever makes you happy :)

Generally speaking buffet is more expensive. I prefer sit down but that's just me!

I personally prefer a sit down and I'm not a fan of buffets in general. I also don't care to stand on line with a plate of food while wearing heels and a gown. But it depends on your own taste and what you like. It's your day so you need to do what makes you happy!!
Just a thought....our e-party is next month at the Swan Club. They offered us the same price for Buffet or Sit-down (which surprised me a little). But our BM there made a point by saying that in general, most people assume that a buffet is less expensive and that a sit-down is more elegant for your guests.
ITA with everything said here I personally think sit down is more formal for a wedding, but ive seen buffet weddings done and its not a horrible thing. Just not me.

My RH charges the same for a buffet or sit down, so I opted for the sit down dinner.

ditto. i prefer sit down. i've been to buffets where its' a disaster... ive also been to some where ti works but i hate the idea of waiting for my table to be called to eat and walk around in heels and a gown with food... just more uncomfortable...
