We can't decide!!! Buffet is $7 more pp (which will pay for the DJ!!), but the sit down might cause less mingling??
We're expecting 70+ ppl plus 20 or so kids (3 months to 16!) It's an afternoon party at a hall.
What does everyone prefer?!

Re: Buffet or sit down for Sean's Baptism??
I think for that much $ difference, I would go with the sitdown. and when I had JA's christening my mom told me sit-downs 'are known' to look more classy and cost more. Buffet 'appears' or is known to cost less. So you'll be having a buffet and everyone will think you did it to save $ and in the meantime, it will cost you more !
Do whatever you feel. We did sitdown (my mom convinced me, lol) and it did have a more elegant feel to it than buffet. and if the room is roomy, and your family and friends are chatterboxes, they WILL mingle !

I guess I am in the minortiy here, but I prefer a buffet. The reason I was told it cost more is b/c they put out more food and as much as is needed for your guests. I had a buffet fror Justin's Christening at Danford's in Port Jeff. We had over 120 people (including kids) and it seemed to work out well.

Kathi--Where did you decide to have it? We haven't even started looking into it yet...
My vote is for sit-down.

I vote for a sit down. I had a buffet at Luke's Christening and it was hectic. Especially with so many kids there.

Re: Buffet or sit down for Sean's Baptism??
For 70+ definately a buffet. It's easier on the waitstaff as well!! (That's what the restaraunt that I had for Patricks Christening said!)

I prefer a sit-down. Ditto to what Anna said ... in my family, a buffet is regarded as being cheaper even when it's not! Although, I do like the food choices of a buffet, I prefer a sit-down tho'.

Re: Buffet or sit down for Sean's Baptism??
As usual... thanks ladies!!!
I want a sit down and Steve wants a buffet! If I insist, a sit-down it will be!
Misha are you waiting for Joseph's 1st birthday???
We're having it at the Coral House ... well, we're 99% sure. They gave us a great deal since we were married there. I was happy w/ how they handled my wedding and I have no doubt they'll do a good job w/ this party, too!
Ahhh, now onto ideas for centerpieces... Who the heck has time for this stuff?!

Tell me about it Kathi! Joseph will be graduating high school by the time my husband plans his. But hey, this is his thing-- I don't know the first thing about baptisms.

You're right!!! Although, I'm not sure Joseph will want to wear a Baptism gown when he's 18!!!
BTW, here's the gown my sister (Sean's Godmother) likes for him...it's beautiful!!
