Buffet Weddings?

Re: Buffet Weddings?

i've been to buffet weddings in the past and they were fine. sure, not as formal as sit down dinners, but who cares. unless you plan on having a black tie wedding, buffet dinners are perfectly acceptable. plus, it gives you more time to party! i'm all for it.

We would have done a buffet, but for us that included the buffet style cocktail hour and that was WAY more expensive than a sit down. The way we looked at it, was that we are having an early Sunday afternoon wedding, so we don't need to go all out with the shellfish and crazy choices like that. We will have butler hour duerves, buffet style pastas for the cocktail hour alogn with cheese and antipasta platters and then the meal will be sit down. The desert will include stations so people can get what they want. The food here is the best in NJ so we know it will turn out fine. I have been to elaborate affairs and honestly, most of the food at the buffet gets dumped yet you STILL pay for it. Sometimes less choice is better. JMO.

You know what would be cool? To have the entire wedding be like the cocktail hour! with the stations and the pssed horsdourves! But I dunno that anyone offers this as a package. haha but people always say its their favorite part of teh wedding! :)

I have a friend doing that for her wedding, but it is in Cape Cod...

I have a funny story about Buffets (which I love!!!) My cousin told me after I got engaged, 'I give a good gift, I don't want to stand in line for my dinner, I expect to be served' FH told her she didn't have to come!!!!!

I'm not having a buffet wedding, however, I think they're great! I don't feel like I need to be served. I'd be happy to get in line, and then get to decide exactly what I want from all the choices. Sounds like a great idea!

I think buffets are an awesome idea! It was actually more $$$ for us to do buffet (I htink ) so we are doing a sit down....

But I know someone who did a clam/lobster bake for their wedding, and I went to a wedding with different stations! Both went over really well!

we did and it was such good food. I really wanted people to not go hungry. My husband and his friends can eat some food. This was the best option. I loved it!
