Re: Bummed

no!

I booked my reception hall almost 2 and a half years in advance.

I've been on this website since probably before any other 2011 girl because we wanted a long engagement.

Booking things far in advance helped me keep a perspective on price and what we need to get done - also spreading things out helps the cost. The more you can get done now, the better off you'll be because it will be one less thing to worry about.

I should add too that most people start booking things 1 year to a 1 year and 1/2 in advance. So that's in another month for you.

Re: Bummed

i get you completely...i know how you feel...this sort of happened to me and it hurt my feelings a little bit....You just want people to be just as excited as you are about planning and sometimes not everyone is at first! it's def not too early to start!!
enjoy the planning process!

No! Sometimes you can get a lower price by booking early! People will change their prices so by booking things early you lock in this year's price. Plus you make sure anyone you want is available!

Re: Bummed

I hated when people told me that. When you are the one planning and paying 1 1/2 years isnt that far off. I got engaged in March of this year and had all of my vendors booked by July. Not only was i superexcited to be planning but I got 2009 rates on everything.

Dont let anyone rain on your parade

Re: Bummed

We booked our RH in March of 2009. I don't think that its too early to do anything. If anyhting you can negotiate more and get a better price since its SO far away.LOL. No but really i would book your reception hall and photographer a.s.a.p

Re: Bummed

We just got engaged in September....hall is booked...hair/makeup booked...just booked our photographer and I owe 300 more on my gown to put the order in...Don't let anyone bring you down..Its never too early, especially when you are both paying for most of all the wedding. Its best to start getting the 2009 rates before 2010 comes along. :) someone made a comment to me yesterday how they thought it was too soon to order my gown.....LOL...whatevs

People has told me the same thing, do I listen to them NOPE! I am doing my planning and not telling anybody. My advice, KEEP PLANNING!!!

Re: Bummed

absolutely not.... there are pros and cons of booking things early...

1. you get the prices now, rather than the increased prices another year down the road.

2. you have more time to save money and probably an easier payment schedule.

3. you can do an unlimited amount of reasearch and if you choose to, you can book now or find something better...

Re: Bummed

Personally, I would just book the hall, photographer, videographer, and florist now.

I'd wait for limo's cuz you never know what cars a place might get by then.

I wouldn't do..
dress
bm dresses
invitations
favors

Tastes change, new styles come out. I wouldn't want to be locking into something for almost 2 years.

Re: Bummed

Yea definetly...those are the thing I actually only wanted to book....My taste and waistline is always changing so I didn't want to do those thing until the year mark....

Re: Bummed

It's never to early to start planning. My FH and I got engaged in June of this year and booked our RH in Sept. and florist within the same month. My advice, try not to voice your planning to too many people. People will always have something to say yet you and your FH or whoever it is that is paying for the wedding has to deal with the finance. A wedding is extremely costly as you all may already know so I say the earlier the better. Again, just get the big things out the way now, than everything else you can do within the year... So go ahead with your planning girl, best of luck!

It's not too early to start planning. We got engaged in May and we booked our reception hall in the middle of June. Don't let anyone discourage you.
