We've been taking dance lessons and our instructor advised us to ask our band which version of our song they sing and how long it is. Well we listened to the bands version and hated it and they tried really hard to work on it so they can sing it the way we want but we got a call today and they're nervous that it'll be much different than the song we practiced our dance to so they highly recommend we play a CD of the song. I'm just bummed because we're paying so much for the band and this is the most important song of the reception (IMO)

your dance will be perfect and thats all that will matter and of course the moment lol.
It will be fine and after you do your dance im sure you'll just be so happy about the moment that it wont matter

Don't worry it will be awesome! You'll have the original version for your first dance and then maybe have the band come in towards the end and transition into a fun upbeat song. Or maybe have the band play a fun upbeat instrumental of your first song. Just as a transition to the live band. Either way, it will be amazing!

Aww don't worry, it will still be perfect. No matter whether the band plays it or a cd everyone will be focused on you and FH and not even paying attention to the song. It will be fine.

i've been to several weddings where this was the case....as a guest it didnt faze me.....as a bride i understand your disappointment, but it will all be perfect in the end and your going to blow away your guests with your dance moves!

You are probably better off having your first dance on CD because it will never be the same as how you learned it and the steps will be off, etc. Also, I took dance lessons with the same guy and he suggested we do it to a cd because if the band happens to mess up it is the most important song and you will have it on your video forever. So take the safe road!
Actually I loved the song I danced to with my brothers so much that I requested it on cd even though we had a band because I didnt think anyone could recreate it as good.
