Bummed with some of the 'no's'

Original post by HSsweethearts

At first I thought our guest list was out of control, but now I think we'll need to invite more people.

A lot of FH's family is OOT. His dad's entire family (except for one cousin) is in FL and CA, and the one cousin in NY declined with no explanation. We've already gotten some No's from the OOT people, and I'm sure that the rest of them will also say no. I thought more of them would make an effort since FH's dad passed away last year and FH's family also went to FL for many occasions. We had a falling out with FH's only aunt on that side, so I think that means his cousins will defintiely not come because I am pretty sure originally she was going to pay for/organize the trip.

On FH's mom's side, we're closer to them. They're mostly out of town as well but mainly in PA and CT. We've already gotten one unexpected 'No' and a lot of people are hedging. I'm really annoyed because we've travelled all over for their weddings and stayed over, etc etc. So there's officially going to be NO ONE from Doug's dad's side, which is really sad, and a lot of his mom's side is not going to show up either.

I'm also disappointed in some of my friends. Some of them are not bothering to respond, and then I got an unexpected no that really hurt yesterday.

I did a projection and we could be 20 under our minimum.

don't think that way just yet. wait to see all of your RSVP's and see what the final number you came up with is.
i hope your not under your min. I'm sorry you guys had to travel everywhere for most of these family functions, its stuff like this that would make me never go out of my way for those same people again

Another no today

'We wish the teo of you great joy and look forward to meeting soon to celebrate'

Umm they live in FL. When are they planning on 'meeting soon'? When WE go down THERE again?

*** is wrong with people... The note annoyed me more than anything. Like you look forward to celebrating when we take the time and expense to come to FL again, as we have like 4 times at least...

And, true to form in FH's family, only one of these no's has had a check enclosed.

BTW I just checked the cost of the flight... $208 round trip on JetBlue. A direct flight under 3 hours from FLL to JFK.

I actually am in a similar boat - and I have had a few people say that same exact thing 'let's get together soon.' Isn't that unbelievable? You can't make time for me on the most important day of my life but yet you will as soon as your calendar is free a few weeks later. Awesome!

I'm feeling very disappointed as well -most of the declines are on my side. I've been very indepedent my whole life-I' ve never asked anyone for anything, a place to stay, money, etc...I just asked for them to give up one day - and even offered help on hotel/travel to a few. So I get it, totally and it sucks - I'm sorry. I know I'm just doing my best to move on and focus on the people that will be there - but I know firsthand - when all you really want for that day is for everyone to be there to support you - its absolutely the worst.

Hang in there :)

I am trying to focus on the people who would not miss it for the world.
