Bummed with some of the 'no's'

Bummed with some of the 'no's'

At first I thought our guest list was out of control, but now I think we'll need to invite more people.

A lot of FH's family is OOT. His dad's entire family (except for one cousin) is in FL and CA, and the one cousin in NY declined with no explanation. We've already gotten some No's from the OOT people, and I'm sure that the rest of them will also say no. I thought more of them would make an effort since FH's dad passed away last year and FH's family also went to FL for many occasions. We had a falling out with FH's only aunt on that side, so I think that means his cousins will defintiely not come because I am pretty sure originally she was going to pay for/organize the trip.

On FH's mom's side, we're closer to them. They're mostly out of town as well but mainly in PA and CT. We've already gotten one unexpected 'No' and a lot of people are hedging. I'm really annoyed because we've travelled all over for their weddings and stayed over, etc etc. So there's officially going to be NO ONE from Doug's dad's side, which is really sad, and a lot of his mom's side is not going to show up either.

I'm also disappointed in some of my friends. Some of them are not bothering to respond, and then I got an unexpected no that really hurt yesterday.

I did a projection and we could be 20 under our minimum.

My RSVP date is 5/15, weekend twin!

At first the unexpected yesses and unexpected no'
s balanced out, but now I am starting to worry, since people we thought would definitely come are not coming or are like 'well, we'll see if we can make it'

I was so incensed. We were at a family wedding last weekend in PA, and the bride and groom, whose wedding we had just obviously travelled to go to, and their brother whose wedding we tgravelled to go to and had to stay in a Hyatt, and their mom are all like 'oh we'll try to make it'..

UGH

I'm sorry It's unfortunate but I've learned that just because you go out of your way for other people, they may not do the same when it's your turn

I HOPE YOU GET ALL THE YES'es YOU NEED!

eta: I totally feel you about RSVPS from friends. They are seriously slacking!!! None of them are married so I doubt that they understand that it'd be nice if they would send them in!

Re: Bummed with some of the 'no's'

Thanks Ladies!

I feel bad for FH, also. Our wedding is Father's Day, which will be hard for him already, and it's just sad to not be supported by his family.

We invited a lot of his family to my shower, and including his mom there were 3 of his family members there.

It just doesn't feel very good.

We've been engaged for 7.5 years and we've been through a lot, so I figured people would appreciate that.

I have a friend I have literally not seen in 15 years who is coming up from DC for the wedding, and other friend who is travelling and also came up from DC for my shower. My aunt came up from FL for the wedding and my other aunt is driving cross country. His family is just not as supportive on the whole and it sucks.

We also fought a lot over inviting his bish of a sister, and I finally relented and invited her and she hasn't even acknowledged being invited.

Re: Bummed with some of the 'no's'

sorry

I felt bad for FH b/c his own godmother responded 'no' with no explaination. It's kind of strange! FH doesn't have a lot of family but they have a lot of family friends.

I on the other hand just have a lot of family/extended family so we kind of even eachother out.

Give it time.. The 'yes' responses will start coming in.

My mom called me today in a panic b/c we haven't had a response in 4 days, but right now we have like 120. So they came in full force to just kinda slow down and I'm sure they will pick up again.

Just think - as much as it stings, you are still going to be a beautiful bride and have a fab wedding!!!!!
