burtons bridals or bridal garden of bethpage?

I am contemplating which one i should order my gown from.....my gown's retail price is $646. The bridal garden has it for $600 and alterations aren't capped. Burton's offered me my gown for $509 but ONLY if i ordered it today or tomorrow ...when i went there today to look at the dress...i told her i would be back next week to order it and she said she is only offering that price for this week, next week it would be $600. (I didn't have any $$ on me today b/c i wasn't expecting to buy and tomorrow i work all day and then have a wedding) so i asked if i could still get that price on sat and she said NO! I didn't like the pressure i felt, however i WOULD be saving $100 PLUS their alterations were capped at $150 and they would throw in $100 toward my veil/headpiece.....so any pros and cons of either before i make my decision?

Is this the exact dress that you want? If so, why wouldn't you want to buy it for cheaper if you could? I would definitely jump on that! I understand not liking the fact that you feel pressured to buy it b/c they are only offering that price for this week, but to save that much $$, to me, is a big deal. Plus, the add'l $100 towards a veil/headpiece sounds like a great deal!

Good Luck!!

I would spend more $, rather than have pressure liek that, but that's me.
I ordered my dress from Bridal garden.

Alterations aren't capped, but my weren't too expensive.

I paid $100 to have the dress made to 'hollow to hem: measurement, but that is done by the nmanufacturer--I'm not sure how much of the $ goes to them.

They ordered the dress in the closest size to me, not bigger , like most places do, so it made me nervous, but now they dont' have to take it in.
I am having the top let out & a bustle & I think the total was about $100.

( I also bought a bra & am having it altered, so I don't remeber how much went for what)

So the cap shouldn't be too much of an issue, unless you loose a lot of weight.

If you can't get to Burton's try them on Saturday , they may give you the price anyway, ( it is still technically this week!) instead of loosing the sale, but the Bridal Garden is a great place, so if money isn't TOO tight, it might be worth it.

ETA: Keep in mind $100 toward a headpiece & veil might not get you very far b/c they tend to be very expensive in bridal salons( in general, I've never been to Burtons)

I'm with Tourist with regard to the veil and headpiece- I got my veil online and there are also lots of places where you can get the veil and headpiece for a good price. You'll get a better deal if you go looking for that on your own and don't buy from a salon, IMO.

I got my dress at the Bridal Garden too, and I've been pretty happy so far. But I have no experience with Burtons.

Regardless, don't rush into this dress because of the savings. You still have a lot of time till your wedding. I ordered my dress in April and it arrived in July.

Another Bridal Garden bride here. I have no experience with Burtons, but dealing with the Bridal Garden was such a pleasant experience I would pay the extra money to work with them. I don't think my alterations were much more than $150 either. As far as the $100 credit goes for tiara/veil. I bought both at Tricounty for less than that and you couldn't tell the difference.

I got my BM dresses at Bridal Garden. I loved them and I would never succumb to the pressure. What difference does it make two days later? Burton's has some nerve.

I got my dress from Burtons and they are great I have no charge for alterations because all I needed was a little on top no hem or bustle.. Good luck I would do what will keep you on budget and what you will be happy with. I too bought my veil from Barrons so that didn't matter to me much the 100.00 off.

I have been to Burton's 3 times this week I love them there Do you know who you spoke with? (short hair or longer hair) I never felt pressured to do anything I even have been somewhat of a pain in the a$$ cancelling 2 dresses reordering 2 others calling them like 8 times with annoying questions
Maybe that dress was on sale for some reason...did they say why they only were offering that price for 2 days very weird
were you there today??

I bought from Burton's bridals and i had a very pleasant experience there. I would buy the dress at Burtons. I would call them and see if you can order it over the phone with her and give her your credit card #

i think i am leaning more towards bridal garden because i didn't find ANY negative posts about them. As for Burtons, they generally seem to have a great rep as well but i did a search on them too and there were a few negative reviews about their alterations. by the way my gown is Alfred Angelo 1929...

I ordered my dress from Burton's and so far they were wonderful answering my many questions. Yes, you can pay by credit card.
